My car didn't come with a recovery tank when I bought it, so I'm getting one along with the bracket and cap. Can some one tell me where the tank and bracket mount? I have a 68 coupe. The car came with aire conditioning originally, but no longer has AC. Thanks!
Because your car didn't come from the factory with a recovery tank there is no right location. I moved my battery to the trunk so I had a good place to put mine.
I use my windshield washer tank, since I wasn't using that to squirt blue juice all over my car. Just run a rubber hose over to the nipple on the tank. Works great. Or do as Terry suggests and keep with the original plan where the excess leaks onto the ground until the proper empty space forms in the top of the radiator.
they , as said before, didnt come with them ,but since the parts ghouses sell them ,everybody thinks they need one...
just dont top off , cold , abv 3" below the neck....you should be ok..
when I got mine I had overheating problems (as many do) and to figure out how much I lost , and to stop getting coolant on my drive way , I installed one....
have not removed it..
But I yook the w/s water container bracket off the place it was, mounted the overflow thare, then welded the w/s water bottle bracket to the overflow bracket...so they are in line
I guesss that makes sense then why I didn't have one. I'm working through a high operating temp issue (230 at idle) and wanted to ensure I had all the correct cooling componenets installed. I'll look at some other high temp troubleshooting mentioned in this forum before I install the tank. Thanks for info.
