I never got the speed nuts right for my repro scoops, then slowly ganked them up over the years by cross-threading the studs. I finally ended up using large black rubber grommets and a bit of silicone to hold them down under the hood.
No vibrations for sure using this method. My scoops have always been OPEN for the air and I've never had any issues with this technique.

thanks for the replies, but does anyone know the size? Lowes has 3 different sizes? 2 of them look like they may fit, but dont want to put the wrong one on.
I will look and see if I still have the box left from the ones I bought to confirm, but:
The easiest way to confirm though would be to bring the emblem with you to Lowes and do a dry fit. They should barely cut into the posts. If it looks like it is going to cut aggressively into the post, it is too small. If it is too small you risk breaking the post off. It does not take much to hold them in place firmly.
They are so cheap to bu locally, that if you buy extras the wrong size, who cares. It should cost you less than a gallon of gas would.
