I just bought a '67 convertible and the turn signal lever is broken off. I need to remove the center hub of the steering wheel (where the horn is) to repair it, and I can't figure out how to get this center section off. I didn't want to get too rough with it for fear of breaking something. Any help someone can give me on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bruce
I believe the real question was how to get the center (horn) cap off 1st. It pulls off. You may have to pry VERY GENTLY.
And there is no "removing the center section" only. The turn signal switch is behind the steering wheel and it will have to be removed.
You will indeed need a steering wheel puller kit. You can get one the fastest at the tool section of any major brand auto parts store (like Autozone). Harbor Freight will take a while.
I don't remember needing the GM lock ring remover for my '67. I did need it for my '80 Trans Am.
