Apologies if this is covered in FAQs but I need specific info for my application. I am swapping out an OHC6 with 3speed for a Pontiac V8. Now I have a Muncie M21(mid 60s) and a BW super T10 (from an'81 Z28 still in car) Not sure which trans to use yet, favoring the Muncie (I know the bell-housing fits ok). Will the bell-housing from the 6 fit a V8 and will it accomodate an 11" clutch?
There's no starter pocket on the V-8 side of the block. (I am refraining from referring to the driver's or passenger's side for the sake of avoiding confusion.
The long and short of it is ... you need the V-8 bell housing. The V-8 Bell housing WILL accommodate an 11-inch clutch.

Thanks Quenton,Looks like I need a bell-housing then, D'oh! Lh & RH sides of a vehicle are internationally reconised even here in Blighty!ha Ha. And funny enough a lot of Brits prefer U.S. cars to be LHD, me included, in fact most here(UK) would say a U.S. car is worth more here in U.K. in LHD form than RH even though we drive on the left..U.S. cars SHOULD be LHD we say but some people just can't adapt and look for a RHD model. How do you guys get on with our old RHD sports cars that you all seem to like?..MGs etc
They built them in bigger numbers with LHD for the ROW market. Very few make it over here with RHD for a variety of other reasons.
You should be able to find a bell housing locally, though make sure you don't accidentally pick up a Chevy version, since it won't bolt up correctly. There are adapters, but you're better off finding the right one.
Thanks again Quenton, have put a few ads up on UK sites so see what comes back. Yes know the BOP/Chevy differences. I've got an engine over in TX which will be coming over soon so might be interested in a b/housing if you have one,(would need a fork and dust cover too) guy with engine said it would be no problem bolting it on for shipping. BOP parts are not so easy to come by over here compared to Ford and Chevy, got 2-3 housings of each sitting in the garage.
