I am finally getting my car out of the body shop after being there for over a year. I want to rebuild my suspension and I would like an opinion of what type of kit to buy.
I have a 67 326 HO convertible and I am leaning towards rubber as it is a cruiser and not a racer. I've been told that Polygraphite may make it too stiff for a cruiser and won't be worth the money thoughts?
Also do you have any suggestions on where to buy the kit? I am aware of the regular catalog options but thought you guys/gals might have better cheaper options.
Rubber performs satisfactorily on my '69 cruiser. The '68 will be a little more performance oriented and is getting polygraphite. Just my preferences, mind you...

I would not put poly in anything that rotates. As in control arms, reay leafs. Poly is great for non moving parts but may squeak a lot in moving locations. Ask me how I know! I know it is more expensive but I plan on running delalum bushings in the top control arms and spherical bearings in the lower control arms.
The poly bushings that I used some time ago squeaked all of the time. The newer ones come with grease fittings and some are graphite impregenated. I'm sure thay have better now than when I used them some 15 years ago. I'm still a huge fan of the delalum bushings. Like I mentioned before they were torqued to inch pounds and you could move them up and down with your fingers. It was one of the best improvements that I did on the car.
I recently did mine, and decided to go for rubber, since it´s a cruiser anyway. My decision was based on advice here (discussed in THIS thread), cost-effectiveness and gut-feeling.
I did a compromise. Poly bushings in the suspension but rubber where the suspension meets the body.
So all poly bushings up front with rubber subframe bushings and rubber pads in the rear where the springs attach to the axle.

I'm going to go with rubber as I think it will be the best for what I'm trying to accomplish. Now I'm trying to decide if I should buy a kit or go with Moog parts from the local parts store which will be more expensive.
There is a decent priced kit at D&R Classic Automotive for a 67 Camaro. Do you know if all the parts are the same for the Firebird?
I'm not sure if the parts are all the same but I would assume they are. I would go with the moog replacement parts. It will cost a little more but when you go to put it all together you will sve some time on installation.
