Ebay has a rear spoiler up for bid. The seller says original? Did firebirds come factory with a rear spoiler? Why has no one bidded on this item? Im looking for one should I bid on it? if so how much? thanks Joe http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...1&item=7901467630&category=34202
Nope, they were original to the Camaro's only. Therefore they are plentiful, so shop around if you want one. This is a VERY common repo part.
Us 400 'Bird owners avoid them because they cover up our ability to let those we are blowing away to know what we have under the hood. (Can't use the 400 emblem on the trunk lid )

Joe, Rear spoilers were a Camaro part only. Since it is a Camaro part only, your car would look more like a Camaro if it has one. Do you really want that? I know, a lot of people have them on their Firebirds and most probably like them and to this I say,"To each his own". In fact, I have one on one of my cars, it's a Camaro. I may sound prejudiced but I like the line between Firebirds and Camaros to be distinct. They are $110 new repro. I have seen a few original ones from Camaros and the plastic gets a little brittle. A new repro would be better. Good Luck, Jim

I have one of those Camaro spoilers on my rear of the bird, and it says 400 on it , yes , if you want, you CAN mount the emblem there...if you want pics , I have some, so does Brett.... Now its agreed that it makes it more Camaro looking and I also have the Camaro 'snowplow' up front , BUT they do help at higher speeds...
and Fbody69 is correct: </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">"To each his own". </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">:D
if you DO buy a rear Camaro spoiler ,make sure you get the correct year for it, 69`s are somewhat wider than 67,68...
Also, the owner COULD be correct , i`ve heard that some people stuck those on at dealerships already as new ,even though it was Camaro item...so it could be "original" to the car , but not from factory...
One thing you need to know; The cars that came from the factory with the spoilers had a slightly larger spring rod. It helps to hold the lid up with the added weight of the spoiler. Jim
I think the front AND rear spoiler make the FGF look even meaner and sexier than without. Nobody mistakes my 68 Bird for a Camaro. Has never happened, there are too many other unique things about the Bird that only bimbos wouldn't immediately notice.

why not just get the firebird spoiler and install it, then no one would mistake it for a camaro, I love the way mine looks. Just need to get the front lower baffle so I can get the front spoiler.
Nash ,I agree they shouldnt mistake it , but....two days ago I drove mine to work and proceeded to go to lunch in it w a co-worker....wer`e sitting outside a burger joint enjoying the great weather and burgers when I hear two people talking behind us, one says: "is that a GTO or a Camaro"? the other (who was evidently the smart one): " nah ,its a Firebird, look there on the front fender it has an emblem that says Firebird..."
1st - the "nice Camaro" issue. This is the reason I got the license plate "NOCHEVY" for my 'Bird.
2nd - I may have a solution here. How about a rear spoiler that is unique to Firebirds??? In other words, something that will supply the downforce you want but NOT run the risk of making it look more like a Chevy???
How about FL550K from Ames Performance? A '69 Trans Am Spoiler specially contoured to fit the narrower '67/'68 body style.
And it won't require you to relocate the "400" emblem
Now THAT would be COOL!

Salmon has an excellent idea! That spoiler has a unique Pontiac look. I have to add that this site is truely amazing for many reasons. One reason that was pointed out by this series of postings is an abiguity of opinions. I have seen so many negitive comments about Camaros in the past that I was totally surprised at the desire for some to put Camaro spoilers on a Firebird. I'm a first generation Firebird owner/fan and a first gen Camaro owner/fan hence the name fbody69 which covers both bases. I think this gives me a unique prospective on the two 1st gens that are remarkable in their similarities and differences. I can't say this enough," To each his own". Jim
Sure, yeah right, whatever. Do what you want but I laugh when I see Camaro parts on a Firebird. If you really wanted to do it right you'd leave off the spoiler. If you wanted to do it less right you'd get the TA spoiler. If you want to do it wrong...put on the Camaro stuff.
I love the Camaros and I love the Firebirds, but it just seems wrong to use Camaro specific parts on the the Birds.
With all the love in this thread I thought I'd just have to be the voice of reason in here
Ha Ha ! My friend found that one for me before and said i should put it on my bird. Sweeet!

Anyone ever watch the Red Green Show? That spoiler Tom posted looks like a Possum Lodge special. It still looks better than the local high school kids and their Neons and Hondas and Saturns with the big aluminum wings that (they think) look SOOOO cool standing still but flap around like they're gonna take off when they hit 50.

Scott, that picture is a crack-up!!! Has anyone dropped the 400 bucks to buy and install the 69 T/A spoiler on a '68? I'd like to do this and cash in the "Camaro spoiler" if possible, but would like to hear from someone else thats successfully done it. :p

that car looks like it belongs in a side show, not a car show.that hood scoop looks rediculous.maybe they can use that car in cheech and chongs next movie.lol
Nashville, I dont know if they have made a 67,68 "version" of the 69 T/A spoiler...but 69 spoiler is longer = wider than 67,68 ...not sure what that would look like , not lining up... just FYI...
