I was moving the radiator shroud for my '67 400 today when it slipped out of my hand and hit the floor. It broke completely through, which surprised me because the material seems more resilient. Maybe age has made it brittle? I put some contact cement on the (2) surfaces, let it dry & them stuck it back to gether. Things seems to be holding, but I'm concerned about heat and vibration causing to it eventually. Any thoughts on how to strengthen my repair?

Is the broken area on the bottom, where it will not be visible? If so, you can make a mending plate of light gauge metal, and pop rivet it on both sides of the break. A touch of paint and it will be scarcely visible.

That's a very good idea. The break is in the lower right side where the straight & curved sections meet. I'll probably go w/ (2) narrow strips in the front & back to avoid all the irregularities in that area. I gave my contact cement repair a pretty good tug this morning & it's still holding, but I can't imagine it would last. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have also repaired cracks like that by drilling small holes, and reinforcing the glued fix with wire, such as baling wire, just nipped and twisted and flattened. Can be made pretty invisible
Interesting suggestion in that drilling staggered holes on each side of the break and lacing things together w/ safety wire was my 1st thought for a fix. Thanks for your response.
