Can someone explain the differece on the hoods, latches and years.I can't believe I'm having this much troulble installing a hood. My car is 67 I bought a goodmark 400 hood.
A '67 hood latch assembly is different than '68-9.
I believe all repop hooods are for '68-9, hence your trouble.(even though they advertize them for all three years)
You would need to either swap out the "inner" catch box from your 'old' '67 hood to your 'new' repop, or get an entire '68 latch assembly for inside your bumper assembly.
If you look up under the hood, the '67 inner catch is installed relatively flat, while '68-9 is tipped. Sorry I don't have pictures, but if you still have your old hood you should be able to see the difference.
The reason for the difference is because GM changed the saftey catch for '68.
If you do a search for "hood latch" you will probably find a bunch of threads within the last year about this.

I have a parts car and a buddy with a latch the prob is I dont know how to identifie between the years.Would it make more sense to drill the spot welds and switch the catch?
I think it would be less work, and be more "correct" for the year.
