You've just hit upon one of the reasons I was reluctant to post what I paid for the car in the first place. I didn't want anyone to think the guy was an idiot
Perhaps that sounded more negative then I meant. I just feel for the guy, he must think DOH!
I think the car found a good home at somebody who is really happy with it.
You know what you have and just owning it is worth more than money in the wallet . How often does a person run into a automobile like you found? To me that is gold in the garage !!!
you are right...a GREAT find...the question is..What to do with it?....I was proud to own mine but I also knew not to overspend on it as it is an investment.

I'm investing a "shipload" of money (both mine and my dad's) on a '68 400 4 speed convertible that will never be 100% original. Will we enjoy it? YOU BET!!!

Vikki I am sure he will enjoy it.....I am also sure that that RAI car has stayed the way it is because of the cost to restore VS the Value when restored.....Like I said, Drive it and enjoy it....you will still make a lot of $ when and if you deceide to sell it.
To me, it's not always about the investment value. It may be "foolish" but putting money into the car is more durable than drinking it, gambling it, or wasting it on bad movies.

i agree with you . that is the reason it is gold in the garage. it has more value than cash in the pocket, or money wasted.

Absolutely. It will be a great way to spend some time with my kids and teach them a thing or two.
Since the car turned out to be a rather special one my first priority will be restoring the body and the correct pieces I do have. I can have a car that we are able to enjoy and add the missing pieces as my budget will allow.
No problem. Right click mouse, "save picture as", open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and voila.
But I still hate you.

Trim 69 on PHS is 269 on the cowl tag. This "should" be black Comfortweave deluxe bucket seats. Does anyone have more information on interior trim options?
My dad's car had the same "double dipping" on the dual exhaust, 481 was optioned but it was supposed to be part of the package.

554 is custom trim option - stainless trim on the pedals, door grab bar, deluxe door panels with molded armrests, etc.
Indeed it does show 269 as Custom Strato Bench. I have never seen another configured with bench and floor shift from the factory.
You can have replacement upholstery made by PUI. I had two sets of non-Comfortweave deluxe dark turquoise seat covers made for a pair of very early '68 convertibles. They do very nice work.

Vikki you state........Indeed it does show 269 as Custom Strato Bench. I have never seen another configured with bench and floor shift from the factory.
Vikki, do you remember the 1969 RA/HO blue in color that I sent you pics of that was for sale a while back?....It too had a bench seat with a 4-speed
I also remember a long time ago that a man named Chris from florida had a 1968 RA car exactley like this one (same color blue and a bench seat 4-speed) that was stolen from him and never found......I am NOT saying this car is that one.
I do....I have it somewhere...I will have to dig it up....If you remember, the car was all original and needed a LOT of work...That would have been a nice car restored.
Looks like your luck is still going strong, time to start playing Powerball, here is a guy selling the correct WQ block for your car for $500. Time to beg, steal or borrow to get it while you can. Go to Uship and try and find someone to transport it out to you for a few $s.
I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I need a WI block. Thanks for the heads up. Keep those leads coming.
Since we are back on the subject of my car... When did production on '68s start and end. The code on the cowl tag says 10C, I'm wondering how early in production my car is??
I would get the car and build a nice semi-original driver. Sooner or later a correct drivetrain will turn up. Or maybe someone looking for a correct car
I think you have no choice but to start the resto and enjoy the car while you keep your eyes open for the correct block, since this might take years. And the meantime you'ld want to enjoy the car i presume!
