Ya know, I just thought I'd mention that I've sent out over 50 maintenance CDs for the 67-69 bird since April, and only 2-3 of you have even mentioned receiving them and thanking me!!
Wazzup?
I thought FGFers were nice, caring folk? I spend all the money and time making them and shipping them........and only 2 or 3 thank-you notes???
Thats it, production and shipment stops this week, until I hear a few thanks or at least "I got yer darn CD in the mail" comments!! :p

Yo! Dude! I don't know whether or not I was in the 50 or so that you sent out, but if I were, I haven't got it. If you recall, I mentioned that not only would I imeaditly send reimbursment for the postage, but I would also kick in a buck or so to help offset your material cost. And yes I would have included a thank you note:)
I had no idea you had offered these CD's. I would be glad to pay for the CD and shipping. Send me a private email and let me know the particulars so I can get one.
When you first posted your offer to send these out, I was one of the first 10 that replied back. I don't remember when that was, but I never received it. Maybe people aren't getting them - I know I didn't. I just thought that you didn't get around to it yet. Your offer was very generous, and I was looking forward to receiving it. Let me know if you need my info again, and I would be happy to reimburse you, or send a simple Thank You upon receipt (or both!!!!)
Nash, I am not sure if I said I wanted one , but dont think I did...in either case I have not received one....but IF I would get one, I would certainly thank you... just common curtesy!
Nash, I do apologize. I got the cd and thanks a million. Its going to help out a great deal. Thanks again for taking the time and the $$$$$ for the cd and postage. Joe
Hey man, don't need to get your panties in a wad! A free offer like yours is something most people would give a large thanks to (like me if i ever get one of those cds) however a thank you should not be a required it only shows you what type of person that you are dealing with for your own future insight. Don't let the callous in the world ruin your own kindness.
Okay, I feel better now. Barry, end-piece worked out fine, and I thanked you in another post last month pointing out great guys that have helped me.
Okay, I'll send out morer CDs this week!!!!!!!! Another FGF-er is looking for a way for me to post the two files (about 75 meg combined) onto his website. Then folks with high-speed access can download at their leisure.

All right, fellow FGFers...if you promise to all be good and not use up all my bandwidth I will keep this First Generation Maintenance Manual and 1968 Firebird Service Manual on my server for all to download.
If you don't have cable modem, find a friend who does...these are big files.
Use this link , right click and select "Save Target As". This is the fastest way to download them.
If you have trouble with the above link, you can use this slower method to download. This will open the files in Adobe Acrobat.
Click a link and the file will download and open your Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader application. Once the download is complete and the manual is visible on your screen, click the "Save" button and save the file to your local hard drive. Please don't download each file more than once, so that all members who want to download will have the opportunity to do so. My bandwidth will support about 80 downloads per month.
And, Nashville68bird...I'm a female FGF member too. The boys can't have ALL the cool toys

Thank you! I'm still new to the computer, can i burn these to a disc as to not use so much memory on my hard drive? Thanks again... David.

Yes, once you've used the Acrobat Reader "Save" function to save the files on your hard drive, you can then copy them to CD.
The service manual is a huge file, 62.5 MB. It will take a long time to load. DO NOT REFRESH or stop your download. Doing so will only cause the available monthly bandwidth to go away

Got em both, just wasn't patient as i've never dealt with a file of that size before. I will try and burn them now. Thanks again. David.

Well, now that Yellowbird and I have accomplished this, let me know those of you that just don't have the modem/cable speed to make this happen. I'll still send CDs to those that can't do the downloads. If you are using 56K dial-up, it just ain't worth the 2-3 days it'll take to download! Thanks Yellowbird, this will take a load off my mailing list. Nice to know that you, Penny and other Ladies are driving a FGF.

i got them to download in a total of 8 minutes (my brother is a major computer geek)
thanks Yellowbird. i had to load the CD on the IBM in my brother's room, but i can access these on the MAC right here in front of the TV.
wish i had some parts to install, but watching Tom&Jerry is almost as good. too many push-cars in the garage to break out the welder and do exhaust work or "art".
i still really appreciate the CD, John. it will last forever. who knows where this computer's memory, or i, will be in a few years.
nashville68bird and Yellowbird, Thanks to you both as I downloaded the files wo incident yesterday. My Road Runner cable modem must be fast! nashville68bird, I cover Nashville, interested in a free beer? Paul
Hey Nashville68bird i asked you for a cd long while ago, but never did receive it!??? no big deal anyways i will try and download it from the links you guys posted thanks again !!!
Hey Nash, I didn't request a CD, but thought it was a great idea, and a nice gesture on your part, but didn't want to add the list I knew could get out of hand for you... Glad you and Yellowbird could come up with an alternative!
And I'll buy you a beer anytime! Goes for anyone anytime you might get up this way... or even IF I get out your way...
Thanks guys! People like you are what this list is all about!
John, I got my cd from you first I belive, back when I sold you that console you made look new. I belive I thanked you then but if not THANK YOU!!!!! again Stephen
Maybe someday I will get this thing off the road to do a full restoration
She's the one helping get your message out there. From what I can tell, she knows more about web work and computers than any of us know about our cars, and she knows more about cars than most of us will ever know about computers!
I've revised John's upload of the assembly manual and cleaned it up for better printing and made thumbnail images. It's now called First Gen Assembly Manual and if you haven't already downloaded the original Illustrated Manual then download this one instead.
Great Vikki (sorry, I should have remembered the spelling), another "scandinavian" here...like my friend up north ,Brett Liukkonen! and of course Q , my "swedish" ancestry friend!
Just downloaded those files. Thanks Nash and Yellowbird, it's greatly appreciated. Nice car Yellowbird, maybe someday mine might look like that!! Rocky
TOHCan , not to upset my other Norwegian friends Hansi and Knut, but thats not the right story! lol this is how it goes: " after 20 minutes of wild fighting the 20 Norwegians got the crutches away from the one Swede...!" anyway , we old Vikings ( Scandinavians) stick together nowadays ,not like in the 14th century...
and I`m sure you have heard the old stories about the "Vikings", frightening people everywhere, they fought , got drunk, raped and pillaged... they still do, but today we call them: ................................"tourists"
Downloaded the files with no prob. Thank you for the time you spent on these manuals, a great service to all of us trying to restore our cars. Can never learn too much about our cars!
Bjorn, that was good! My swedish grandmother (first woman to cross the Canadian Rockies in her own car, a 1927 Whippet) would have had those 20 begging for mercy. She was the principal of a junior high school that had a good mix of immigrants and locals, and NOBODY crossed her!
