Are you looking for replacement lights, or original T-3 headlights?
I think most auto shops still sell replacements, but I am not positive. I have an xtra set if you need them.
Original T-3's are getting harder to find, and usually don't last too long. I know they are being repopped too. I think the repos go for more than $100 a set.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Repop T-3 full sets go for $130. I bought mine 3 years ago from Ames. Then I did many of them at the Turkey Run (originals) for just a few bucks each, however, no way of knowing if they were any good etc. Plus as stated above the originals don't last very long.
Now if you buy bulbs off the shelf at AutoZone or the like, there are some that will not work with your original plastic boots that plug onto the backs of the bulbs due to the prongs on the back are not long enough. Some people end up trimming the plastic boots back, thus allowig the shorter brass prongs to reach the female sockets. Hope that makes sense. If you do not want to trim your boots, compare two mfgs. bulbs and buy the ones with the longer prongs.
Great! Thanks again for the info. Are these 5 inches or larger in diameter? If anyone knows whether the GE or Sylvania have the longer connectors, please let me know.
So, these can still be bought at any auto parts store? NAPA, Autozone, Advanced, etc.?
My point Vikki was that one of the mfg of the round bulbs do not put a long enough prong on the back of the bulbs. The books/computers will all tell you that they will fit (which they do) but what they don't tell you is that due to the short prongs, if you have stock wiring, they will not work without modifying the plastic boots on your wiring harness. Whereas the ones with the longer prongs will work with no modification (cutting/trimming)...
The reason I know this is because I had it happen with both my 68 Camaro and my bird. Bought the wrong ones both times for both cars and I was not about to cut my boots on either car so I ended up taking all four (8 actually) back and exchanging them. You would have thought I would have learned after the first set, however, there was several years in between... LOL
Sylvania Halogen H5001 and H5006. They are on my car and fit with no problems. Direct replacements for originals.
