I'm going to change my body mounts and was wondering if anyone had any tips. I will have a lift, and possibly power tools. Just doing the front subframe mounts. Will I have to realign the front sheetmetal after?
OK, I must be challenged. I looked in the FAQ and could find nothing but questions regarding the website. I did a search using "body mounts", "installation", "subframe", "subframe mounts", and couldn't find the directions. Can anyone help?
An impact wrench will make quick work of removing the bolts. Do it on the ground and one at a time. A nice size pry bar will also help to get the bushing/sleeve in between the subframe and the floor. Wouldn't recommend using a lift, you chance too much movement and possibly misaligning things. Did mine on the ground in about an hour or so.
Spray down all of the bolts for several days before trying to remove them. Mine came out ok but if you break the cage that the nut is in they will just spin.
Just an update. I did the body mounts today and I did have to realign my frt bumper in a major way. The bumper bracket bolts had to be loosened, probably because my mounts were all destroyed.
