Has anyone had any experience in stripping and reapplying with burlwood applications on a center console? any tips are appreciated

I used a da sander to remove to old stuff and had the guy that did my paint help apply the new burlwood. It really wasn't that hard.

No offense to those who have used the contact paper burlwood stuff, but, IMO I have yet to see one that looks even remotely acceptable...

This is an interesting topic to me, my console is in need of repair as well. If the contact paper isn't a very good option how about the insert kit from Ames?

I always thought it would be cool to redo them in a burlwood veneer...if you could make the curves angles work with the wood.

I am very happy with mine. I used a bit of clear nail polish on the corners to encapsulate the wraps and seal them off. Other than the slightly different finish you would have to look on the underside to tell it was an applique.

I'm happy with mine as well. It's not perfect but it looks good.
I have friend who has a kit to paint the burlwood. He did his old 38' I believe & it turned out incredibly nice.
