I have a 67 Firebird 326 H.O., I just recieved my PHS documentation and it says that car came with a H.O. stripe down the side but doesnt tell me what color. Does anyone know what the most common colored strip was used on a Startlight black car in that year?
I believe only white or black stripes were used. I cannot imagine black stripes on a dark color car.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I think the red will be my choice, I think the white will stand out to much on a black car with a black interior. plus it will look good with the redline tires.

I know he goes by Kelly and HATES being called Robin. Why do you think I do that? I fixed your typo's, too.

ok, got the OER kit in red. now my question is do the stripes end at the fender door seams or do they wrap around the corners and the jamb?? anybody know or have some detailed pics?
harbone, wow what a great looking car and NO Camaro spoilers either!!! VERY sharp car!!! Post pics when you care done, would love to see it with the H.O. stripes...
G-whiz, thanks for the input, I have seen a few done both ways it just concerns me wrapping them around the corners since they will probably have a tendency to start lifting on those ends. Earlybird, yeah, shes pretty and I have always been a Camaro guy but I have never seen a Bird as clean and original as this one. the 326 HO with factory air makes it even rarer. I will post up some pics when I get the stripes laid down.
I have a 68 Firebird 400 that I restored a few years ago. The car did not have stripes when I got it (it had been repainted). I stripped the whole car down to bare metal during the restoration process and I could clearly see the car originally came with stripes because of the "wrapped" part. This is what told me my car originally came with stripes, but I never got the PHS for that car, something I should do someday. My girlfriend just got herself a 67 HO with the stripes and they do not wrap around, but then again, they are not the original stripes. If I were to do it again, I would try to "wrap" them around. Just my opinion. Frank.

I owned a 77 Opel Ascona 1,9L (same color as the pic as below) but with chrome bumpers. Did not know that Pontiac had made this color kombinasjon ten years earlier.
just so everyone knows I trimmed these stripes very carefully with a razor blade on the doors and fender just at the point the sheetmetal was starting to roll around the corner. I have noticed on a few cars I have seen, that the stripes were kind of wrinkled where it wrapped around the corner to the door jamb. if moisture or dirt gets under that area it will eventually cause the stripe to lift. so I trimmed them evenly (and carefully) just on those edges and it looks great!
A trick I used to used on tape pinstripes back in the 80's when I striped cars as a sideline was to take a very fine point artist brush and put a tiny drop of clear paint on the ends. It keeps em sealed down and if done correctly you can't see it. Car looks great!
Oh yeah, these are NOT the cheap stripes you see on eBay for $39.95, I bought a set of those and sent them right back, they were junk. I bought these from NPD and its is a kit from OER, $159.00 but worth every penny for the quality!
Your car just looks so nice, great job! Bone stock, just looks so clean and sharp! Absolutely love it! And whatever you do, please don't say you are going to put Camaro spoilers on her, front or back!

oh know, this old Bird is gonna stay as stock as possible (minus the exhaust), I even put some ribbed heater hose and a repro upper radiator hose with tower clamps on last night. I know the car is worth a lot more this way and there isnt another one anywhere in my area thats as clean as this one. her name is Black Betty and her personalized plate will say BAM BA LM in reference to the song!
