neither of you will like it when it comes time to PAINT it! LOL
That's why my place has a 99% maintenence free exterior. The only thing I paint is the porch posts. Mostly because they have a three color finish, and I enjoy painting the funky designs.

Since this thread has turned into a home thread for the moment I'd like an opinion.
We're residing the house due to hail damage, I'd like to install a Window and shutters in the second floor over the first floor window and also add shutters to the one by the Chimney. Problem is that 2nd floor front corner room is a bedroom and would now have three windows. The bedroom by the Chimney only has the one window. But I think it would really help the exterior look of this side of the house.

I would add a "false" window abv the one below... two ways to do it... 1) add a real window thats blackened out and has an interior wall behind it... or my choice (cheaper ,easier) 2) just add a couple of shutters and trim around, looking like there IS a window, but shutters are closed...
and add shutters to the chimney window... can that window move? if not how much space between it and the chimney? you dot want a shutter right up against it...what size shutters? (width) what is that room...can window be reduced in width? hampers egress requirements?......
My thread has been overtaken by Men with FLARE!!!! Guys talk about the lift you are putting in or the gearhead bath you installed in your garage.... Or how you installed a 50" flat screen in the floor then use lexan to keep it intact... Or how you invented a device to keep your car clean and show car ready without any hands-on work... I am thinking some kind of vac system in the garage that when the doors shut it sucks all dust particles out.. Or how you were able to rebuild your R.A.1 carb on the kitchen table even though it took 3 months.... Oh forget it I just got done painting my bathroom grey with scarlet accents. GO BUCKS!!!!
I tried unsuccessfully to bounce it back to car talk a page ago so I just joined In on the home design....
Sorry John! It's that time of year when men want to talk home improvements. Dont' worry, in another month or so, we'll have time to get back to Pontiacs...

OK to get back on subject, sort of. Here are some pics of my Pontiac garage. When I needed more garage space I added two stalls on the back of my existing two stall atached garage There is a 16' insulated overhead door that seperates the two. It is heated with a ceiling mounted gas fired furnace. Being a remodeling contractor, I wanted to add a little flare to it so I used ceramic tile on the floor and inset a "bird" in the center. Now just so you don't think that it never gets used as as actual garage ... My only regret is not using infloor hot water heat and of course not making it twice the size.
Hank, being you live in wisc. the floor heat would've been the way to go. Great garage that doubles as a party pad if the need calls for one Like the bird for sure.
Nice garage Hank. Ceramic tile? Now that's different.
As far as Home and Garden... it's that time of year when we have to appease the other half so we can spent all summer in the garage and attending races, shows, and cruise-ins.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled program already in progress.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
I like the double door idea! Do you have to turn a candlestick on the wall to open It?
Naw, he's got the 'clapper'.
