Did anyone attend this? I saw a beautiful black 1968 Firebird in the Atlantis parking lot. 400, Auto, Convertible, fold down seats, Edelbrock heads, billet pulleys, the list goes on and on. There was another black 68 hardtop that had a "flame" treatment to the frontend. Was wondering if they were cars of anyone on the list?
G.J. 68 350 Coupe (someday I will have it in shape to enter)
G.J Is H.A.N. as great as they say. Ive never been there but sure would like to one of these years. Nothing like walking around in 90+ deg. looking at sweet cars and having a cold beer in hand. Joe
There is a maximum 5000 cars entered and all the 2004 entries filled up during the 2003 Hot August Nights (a first). I believe the entry year cutoff date is 1971 and older. All the major casino's have a "Show and Shine" in their parking lots. I only visited the Atlantis parking lot on the 2nd to last day. There were probably 100 really nice cars at Atlantis, and a couple of them were rough around the edges. Some of the bigger casino's probably have close to 1000 cars in their lots. Nothing like seeing a 69 Judge next to a, 68 GT500 Shelby, next to a Hemi Cuda, next to Daytona Superbird and the list goes on and on.
One of the guys i work with went. he said it was great. Cars lined thru out. He went to the auction, then hit the peppermill. He stayed there 4 days. This is like the 5th or 6th time he has gone. he said it just gets better and better Wade
HAN is awesome! I go every other year and yes, it does keep getting better. If you plan on going, make sure you get room reservations at least 8-10 months in advance. Asside from car activities, the free concerts at the major casinos are great.
GJ, Here is a report from one of the Bay Area guys... - Brett - 67 Drop Top 455!
(Hot August Nights was total blast this year. My wife and two sons met up with Hugo and his son and we caravanned to Reno. Cruising was a total grid lock - just to many people, but it was still fun. I drove my 70 GTO convertible (which I sold while I there), my son drove my 69 Firebird convertible, Hugo drove his 69 Firebird too, and Hugo's son Bradley drove a 99 Firebird (could be wrong on the year).
Two things I noticed - more 1st generation Firebirds then ever. More than 20 or so. 5 years ago there was less than 6. We did see an original 69 T/A that had been restored.
Also, Virginia street was open for cruising for 2 hours Saturday night, something they haven't done in 5 years since the rioting occurred.
HAN is sold out for 2005.
I'm looking for a rotisserie to either rent or buy if someone knows of one. Al)
