Hi guys, i installed my dash assy in my 69 firbird . and everything looks good except the left turn indicator light comes on when i turn on the lights; it works(blinks) when the left turn signal is on. Any ideas, ive added grounds everywhere. and the wirning seems to be virgin.
Usually, if the ground for the parking light lamp is not grounded at the socket, then, when the lights are turned on, current flows through the turn signal filament and back to the corresponding instrument panel turn signal lamp.
You can see in my diagram that if power from the headlight switch (BRN wire) can't go to ground at the parking light, it is rerouted through the LT BLU or DK BLU wire to the T/S indicator and finally finds a ground.
This definitely helped me a lot as well. I had the same problem today with my new wiring. I found an insufficient ground to the new left turn signal socket. It's now good to go.
Now to that dang horn relay......

Just another note on grounding...while assembling the '68, I got three of the power windows working but not the fourth. Not even a nudge. I checked power at the harness, power is good. I checked power at the switch, power is good. I checked power at the motor with a test lamp and something strange...no power.
I moved the ground for the test lamp back to the kick panel area and tested again. Power at motor now tests good, but the lamp goes on at both motor terminals no matter whether I push the switch to "open" or "close" and the motor does not budge.
I figure it's a bad motor, and eventually decide to call it a night. I closed the door and tried just once more. The window goes down smoothly on the first try! Hmmm...open the door, the motor won't work.
The ground circuit between the door and the jamb is obstructed by fresh paint! I'll clean it up tomorrow.
