It just tucks behind the seat. The only spots that can tuck tightly are right at the seat corners. Mine billows if there is a stiff cross wind. Regular driving on not so windy days does not seem to cause the billowing.
I have seen others put snaps along the back side of the seat, but this would not be stock.
My original boot fits tighter than my other car with the repop boot.
Oh, and mine has never blown off, just billows and creates a parachute until I pull over (usually quite quickly).

tucks in like this...just note my top goes down unusually low , so dont let that scare you...but this is how it fits behind the back rest. I have never had any problem with wind picking it up, not even at 110 plus mph.
mine has two snaps ea side abv the arm rests...one facing forward , one inward..
do you have the regular plastic snaps that go over the ss trim for the rest? like these...there you can see the two other snaps that go over the armrest area also
wow thanks now i see, it seems my repoducion boot is made a little small. now i search for a better fitting one. thanks alot
Rick, Before replacing the boot make sure you have the top all the way down.
Are you tucking in the front folds back when the top is in the last foot of it's lowest stowed position and are you putting the top latches in their closed position? Also, try putting the boot in the sun before putting it on.
Does the chrome trim that the boot clips to actually hold the boot on? My trim has been pulled off in the middle becasue the boot fits so tight. The screws holding this trim on seem awfully small so I'm surprised this trim would be strong enough. Has anyone else had this proble?

Yes, no.

No problem with the chrome strip holding down the boot and stayin in place itself. The only boot issue I've had over the years is that the boot clips lose their grip over time. I have to replace a couple every year.

LOL I was just looking at mine again tonight in prep for the Penticton run...even after adjusting my clips back by cutting the backing and remounting they are again pulling away leaving the clips exposed from the rear...freaking aftermarket boots...I have had it! I am taking mine in as a template and having a custom one done...WHY don't these manufacturers FIX this!!!...
1/4- 1/2 more meat on the vinyl and it would be a non issue..argggh
Bjorn, you forgot to mention that you don't actually have a top under there , , and that is why it fits perfectly...
lol, no I actually DO have one, heres 'proof' , one of the few pics of it up!....it just folds down very low, might also be part of a few reasons 1) I have a very thin top 2) it was/is a manual top with out the hold down clips as someone once made it 'power' 3) luck?
Actually mine was manual for the longest time until I discovered it was an auto top with the motor missing. Folded better when I installed a motor but still high.
I tried to get my boot on again last night without success. Do these thing SHRINK?
It always fit extremely tight, but I couldn't even get it to clip on last night.... and it's pulling the chrome strip off
I just got off the phone from ordering a new PUI boot. I'll have to repair the chrome strip and I hope this one fits!
(I've tried leaving my old boot in the sun to allow for "stretching, but no luck)
The well trim should be screwed down underneath and on the ends. There should be no way for it to come off. I think I have some pics of this if you want them.
I have a PUI boot and it is also extremely tight. Looks to be a very good high quality material. I got all but a few of the outside corners to clip down. I tried like hell to pull it down and a few of the plastic parts pulled out of the metal clip thingy on the boot.
After I let it bake in a sun when it was 90 deg I was able to pull and stretch the corners by running my hand over the boot in the direction I was trying to get to and successful got it clipped. I have not taken it off since. I have left it on now about 1 month. Kinda looks like a set of DD in junior button up blouse.
I had issues with it billowing out tooso I tucked the front behind the bake seat

My chrome well trim is also screwed down but a couple of screws have been pulled out (stripped). I notice the trim is also bent upwards on one side from pulling.
I'll post a couple of pics.
I bought new screws to install, but haven't had a chance to figure out how to get at them... (haven't had the top up for a long time)
I swear I am going to just take mine to the local auto upholsterer and have him make one up the RIGHT size...freaken h#ll, 3/8" front to back would make a world of difference for us all....Argghhh
I assume an upholster would have access to that plastic material they use to reinforce the clip area? Mine is split in areas from the tension.

Wow. I didn't realize how many problems poeple have been having with these. My black '68 boot is orignial, and still fits well even though there are a bunch of mold spots on the back side. Even all the clips are original. One or two of them don't grip very well any more though.
I'll have to make sure I take good car of it from now on.

even I , with my low fitting top, have a sligt problem...its hard as H$ll to get all snaps to grip....usually I leave one in a 'corner' open ,as its too hard to stretch and using your finger tips to snap over....one reason I hate to put my top up...re installing the boot afterwards... as a matter of fact we got caught in rain 3 weeks ago, I had to use the top for 20 minutes...now when down ,the boot is not on as I expect to have to put it up when parked over night on our trip to Colorado in 2 weeks! (thats how lazy I am!)....
[censored] I want to do that trip but it's looking grim....way too much going on on my project as we have to blast forward before the snow hits (ie get the structure closed in).
Still working on it tho...
I'm with you Bjorn, I hate to put my top up because of the boot.
David....hopefully you can make a break for it! ...I`m swamped here at the moment...was almost idle last month...could be a good sign , but never the less I`ll be going...come hail or high water...we may get both...LOL
I just dropped my house another 50k, if it goes before then then I am going one way or the other....it may be a last minute thing...LOL...been there done that!
