Hi. My 69 has the 3 spoke steering wheel used in 69-73 models. I had to look for a long time to find one that has no wear on the grain. This is the second summer and it was a hot one. Steering wheel now is sticky yet cleaning it does not help. Any ideas on what is causing this condition and how to remedy? Thanks for your feedback.
I dont know why , but mine was that way also when I bought mine 10 yrs ago...could bnever get away from being sticky, tried about everything except a "coating"...its something in the plastic that releases I think after old age... it was a good reason for me to go to the wood after mkt wheel....
That Grant wooden wheel is sweet! Put one on back in august. Think the car even rides better!
Castrol super clean and a scrub brush worked for me. I did put a coat of interior paint over it also. Never did get sticky. However Summit has the best price on the wooden wheel! Think was about $150.00 with the istall kit.
Thanks for the replies. Bought some Super Clean (no longer sold as Castrol Super Clean) at Walmart and it seems to have done the trick. Have to see if the stickiness comes back with the warm weather next season. John
