More seatbelt questions-my 67 400 has the deluxe interior, but the front belts are metal, rear are plastic. My PHS docs aren't listing "CUSTOM SEATBELTS F&R (code 43-1) does this mean I have plastic belts, or metal ones? Thanks - Paul
I think the custom = deluxe were all metal, if I`m not mistaken that would mean someone changed out your rear ones for the std. which were plastic...
I had in my 69 w de luxe interior metal up front and plastic in rear (somebody re-worked my car once..), but I went the inexpensive route and bought two plastic ones for the front...
but I am not 100% sure on the 67 originality stuff...but I think the metal ones in 67 had the Fisher coach body on them vs the GM mark on 68-69
Paul, To check for a possible replacement, as Bjorn mentions; check the tag on each of the belts. There may be a date stamp that would give some indication to whether the belt manufacturing date is reasonable for your car's production date or possibly some sets are off something else.
One more wrench to throw in this discussion on seat belts - many people will say that if you have "deluxe" interior, that you have "custom/metal" seat belts. This is not necessarily true. My '69 350 HO has deluxe interior but the seat belts are the standard plastic and they are the original ones delivered with the car.
