I have a fairly original 67 Firebird that has been documented by PHS sometime ago (mid 90's). I have the deluxe interior. Should I then have the deluxe seat belt too or could my car have been equiped with the standard belts, and how can I tell (documentation) what it should have? I have the body broadcast sheet, would tell me on there? Thanks, art1967
I agree with 8point. My '67 has deluxe interior, but standard belts. My '68 'vert is optioned in the same manner.
On the other hand, my '68 coupe has a standard interior, yet has deluxe belts. Go figure!

Interesting! So for 67, did it state this on the "Broadcast Sheet"? I don't have my sheet handy, but what is the code? I have the std. with deluxe interior, but my inteior is Turq. The seat belt covers are green, I'd like change them to the deluxe style.
Colored interiors always had matching seatbelt colors except white interiors came with black belts. Turquoise interiors came with turquoise belts. But good luck finding any of those. I've been looking for '68 teal deluxe belts for 6 months. Did find teal window cranks though...
Are you sure the green isn't faded turquoise?

Custom seat belts was option code "431". So it would be a "1" coded in box 43. Unless your car also came with the optional front seat shoulder belts (code "434"), in which case both would be coded in box 43 as "5".
68tpls400, I do have turq belts and the matching plastic covers on some of the belts, some are broken which needs to be replaced. I too have the turq window cranks, but turq or teal is a stretch (more like just jade green to me). I was thinking of buying the metal buckle parts and having someone stitch them on my belts, but maybe that too much work. I can buy new plastic pieces, paint them that green color and be done. What do you all think?
Painting parts with vinyl paint that get handled often will not last. But a good lacquer or enamel with clear-coat might do it.

The belts were installed by Fisher before the broadcast sheets were printed. So the belts are not on the broadcast sheets.
Belt color info is here: http://www.camaros.org/seatbelt.shtml#color It was similar for Firebird. A red interior got black standard and I thought a red interior should have red deluxe belts. ??? I don't have 68 Firebird color info to confirm that, but Jim's car has black deluxe. Hmmm....
My guess on mine, Kurt S, is that it was either a supply issue with the lower volume red deluxe belts at the time or an simply and error. I like the contrast anyway.

On that ebay car (7U152952), what's up with the partial VIN (looks like maybe stamped on the cowl) that has the complete VIN there?? Never seen that. The stamper didn't physically have enough digits to stamp those extra characters. Oopsie....
Did you miss my point? Red seatbelts with a red interior. Not black seatbelts with red interior. I have seen more than one like this over the years. Maybe a '67-'68 difference?

Maybe your's was built on a Friday afternoon, and they said "what the H3ll, ten minutes 'till beer time, and we ran out of red belts. Here, let's use these rejects from the black assembly line".

I think it is like this, correct me if I'm wrong. The Deluxe seat belts were a separate option from the Deluxe interior.
So, a car with standard interior could be had with either the standard seat belts or ordered with Deluxe seat belts. Likewise, a car with the Deluxe interior could be had with the standard seat belts or ordered with the Deluxe seat belts.
The standard seat belts were made in fewer colors than the Deluxe seat belts, see the link to the Camaro site above ( http://www.camaros.org/seatbelt.shtml#color ). No red or turquoise standard belts are mentioned. So a car with a red interior, no matter if it was the standard interior or the Deluxe interior, would get black belts if the standard belts were fitted. If the same car was ordered with the optional Deluxe belts, it would get red belts.
I noticed the belts but may have missed your point. I have seen red belts in red interiors too and in '68s, including the '68 brochure.
I don't question that they should be red. I question why mine got black instead. Maybe those two QC inspectors in the brochure did not inspect my '68.
Maybe they liked the contrast also?
(ok, ok, the two QC inspectors are one blonde and one brunette)
