Well, now it is maybe a no no car, before transfering the money to the seller I went through the pictures I got from Bjorn and there could be a problem with the engine code.
I am waiting for a conformation on the code and if it is a non matching number car the deal is off.
Are you trying to buy all parts you need to complete the car? (So you can ship them in the container to save freight costs) Were do you live in Norway? The only thing i needed replace of body parts in my California car was the battery tray.

I would go ahead and buy most everything you can now and have it shipped with the car. Frame rails, full floor, inner-outer quarters, trim, hood, wiring harnesses, etc... everything!
If you don't need the new, or the old is ok you can probably sell either since you'll have the only one locally available. An entire Goodmark-NPD-Ames order wouldn't be that bad in the grand scheme of things. 10 grand or so of parts up front will same you a lot of headache down the line.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
Jeg bor i Møre og romsdal, ikke så langt fra Geiranger.
I will go shopping after ( and if ) I buy it, I know I will loose some on the shipping, but I will send the list around and buy the parts where I get the lowest price.
Did het a confirmation from the seller now, the engine is stamped YS , not number matching as stated in the auction and the value is close to nothing.
So what to do ? the engine could be anything from 69 350 HP to a mid 70's 230 HP thing ?????
Loffen, I think now you need to look for a date code and part number on that block, and that may narrow it down to which YS engine you have.
There is a slight possibility that if this was a very late build, due to the extended 1969 Firebird model run, you could have a YS block with part #9799914.
Hey Loffen, welcome! Another European; cool! I ship some things I need, but mine had no rust...
Time, patience, craftmanship, storage, money and good advice is all you need to finish this! I'm sure it will be a great car when finished.
Congrats!
Thanks Wouter.
But I think I will pass on this car, the price was 4050 USD for a number matching car, I am pretty sure it is not now, look at the paint on the cylinderhead in the picture above, that is not a metallic paint, indicating that it is a 1971 and later part.
What will the value be for a non matching number firebird in this condition ?
In this market you could buy a nice driver, numbers matching car (FGF) for around 15k-20k. This would be a third of what a car like the one you first posted would end up costing you. Then you would at least be able to drive it and enjoy it and there would still be plenty to do as they always need something. Just my opinion...
I see the bidders are just swarming all over that one.

I do not want to buy a 8 or 12 K car as my plan is to do a full restauration, so I have put my limit to 4000 for the car and that it shall be number matching and a convertible with a clear title.
I do not expect it to be running, rust free or have a nice interior and first of all so do I like challenges and I have the budget to do it.
I might buy the rust bucket if I can get it for a sensible price, but when it is not Number matching I lost some of the interest in it.
I have decoded the engine, it is a 1975 Firebird engine with 185 HP.
I gave the owner an offer of 2500 USD and he did reclain and relisted it on Ebay again with the numbers he did find on the engine and as a non matching numbers car, he also told me that the reserve was over my 2500 USD offer. He did also use the old pictures and did not mention the broken windshield.
Anyways so are project rustbucket over for my part I am just happy that I did find out that it was not matching numbers before I made the payment ( Thanks Bjorn !! with out your photo's I would have been stuck with it), maybe I will return with a new project in the future, who knows....
Glad you didn't find out the hard way. Spending more than you want on something you didn't want.... It's so nice to have friends who can help out like this. Bjorn you are the man!!! There seems to be alot of good people on here. Glad I was told about this site.... Joe
Ohhh It is all right, I have some mixed feelings, but I guess I am just very lucky..
By the way, I had to copy the text in the new auction, not number matching but correct ? And the missing grill insert is in the engine bay, Hah I know more about this car now than the seller
1969 PONTIAC FIREBIRD CONVERTIBLE. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR WITH CLEAR TEXAS TITLE IN-HAND. IT IS A 400 4 BBL. W/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT IS CORRECT BUT NON-NUMBERS MATCHING.
ENGINE CODES ARE AS FOLLOWS: FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BLOCK STAMP "YS". CODE STAMPED ABOVE "YS" ON FRONT OF BLOCK IS "0234150". STAMP ON EXHAUST PORTS APPEARS TO READ "5C". APPROXIMATELY 6" BELOW THE YS ON THE FRONT OF THE BLOCK, THE ENGINE IS STAMPED "25N536556". THE STAMP ON THE TOP OF THE BLOCK IN THE BACK AND IN THE REAR BENEATH THE DISTRIBUTOR IS "A225". FINALLY, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE BLOCK NEAR THE FIREWALL, THE ENGINE IS STAMPED "880181".
AS FOR THE BODY. THIS CAR WILL REQUIRE FULL RESTORATION. IT IS ALL THERE (EXCEPT FOR 1 GRILL INSERT) BUT MOST METAL SURFACES WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRD OR REPLACED. FLOOR AND TRUNK PANS ARE ROTTED, BOTTOM OF FENDERS AND QUARTERS HAVE VARYING DEGREES OF RUST PENETRATION AS DO ROCKERS. REAR DECK LID AND TAIL SECTION WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.
SELLING THIS CAR AS-IS, WHERE-IS. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES.
IN A NUTSHELL, SELLING A CONVERTIBLE FIREBIRD WITH CORRECT (NOT NUMBERS-MATCHING) ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AND A CLEAR TITLE. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS
the grille is now inside the car...the hood release is also missing (but there), it was taken off together with the grill so the shop twas able to open the hood....the trunk cannot yet be opened, the lid is I feel good about you not buying it...as I think it was a bad car...under $1000 parts car imo, personally I would not have paid $500 for it..too few useable parts... I would have felt bad if you had bought that thing and later find out it was a money pit!
Sorry you didnt get it, but, I also think it was wise to walk away from it. Too many problems, too much to fix, little to salvage. Just towing it might have seen the whole thing disintegrate...
If you change your mind and want an excellent 69' vert project with tons of potentional, (for above $4K), let me know.

Sure I can be interested, but I want to finish my -73 Eldo and sell it first, I am almost done, just need to get the front fenders and hood back from the paint shop and do some detailing, I would say that it is done and sold in the end of May to be on the safe side.
And if you could send me some pictures it would have been great..
