Makes some of us wish we had kept those carbs back when. How many of us walked by those cars with those carbs in the junkyard. I had a junkyard that let me have any carb for $10 bucks. Used to get holleys for a buddy off fords.
I still have a few of those, and I'm still amazed that people will pay those amounts for them. There seems to be no limit to what people will spend for a $2 trophy. And we wonder why people go to such great lengths to restamp carb bodies.
Whether it's a 69 Ram Air, RAIV, RAII, or base 350 version, they will all perform the same. Only differences from a performance standpoint are jets and rods. There are a few very minor cosmetic differences, but essentially all Pontiac Q-jets are the same, and will perform the same. One noticable variant is the 1971 455 H.O. version, which had the booster rings removed for more flow, and the later SD-455 versions, which were 800 cfm bodies.
If you look at the Jeg's site, a rebuilt Q-jet from Jet Per5f runs around $290. A brand new Holley 750 vacuum secondary, with the original style finish, is about $270.
