so I have never done this kind of work with the seats or carpeting before and am looking for resources I can read or watch to learn the best ways to do this.
first things first the carpet. The car just had the floorpans replaced and so that is my starting point. I am looking at purchasing a molded carpet kit with the jute backing but are there any other layers in between the floor pan and the carpeting like a molded vinyl layer?
Then the Seats. I am purchasing the vinyl seat re-upholstery kits for my year but I need to remove the old seat covers and then install. The foam and frame look good so I will only need the covers. Any advice on these?
everything else I have a handle on but it is these two things which worry me slightly. never done them so looking for advice and hopefully some good how-to resources.
The originals had asphaltic panels (4) in each seat pan and that's about it. I would consider soundproofing sheet goods or the peel n stick roofing membrane (check other threads on this)..
Personally if you are going to the trouble of re-upholstering I would replace the foam. Also ensure the side bolster springs are in good shape. They are inexpensive.
While I did mine I sodablasted, repainted and relubed my slides Don't sandblast them. Grit and seat slides don't mix.
