Ok, I am taking this question to the professionals. I have a friend who has a 68 convertible bird that is trying to find out information about a shoulder belt option. Can anyone give me insight on this, true or false? If this was an option, does anyone know of anyone that has these parts available for sale?

Front and rear shoulder belts were availble as options in 68. Not sure about buying except on ebay.

But I think 69 was the first year for convertible shoulder belts. What this firebird book says anyway.

I've been thinking about putting more modern shoulder belts in my 'vert. I had a '70 coupe and the shoulder belts in it were very restrictive, couldn't reach the radio controls with the belts on. Has anyone installed shoulder belts with retractors in there cars?

This question is for my '68 convertible. Trying to make it a bit safer. I might have overdone the HP a bit . Kris came up with this one:

I like the idea of these 3 point belts from firebirdcentral.com ...does anyone have experience with them? I'm most interested in how the upper mount happens? Is welding required or is there a bolt hole beneath the headliner?
