The "repair"? Education. And I mean REAL education, not indoctrination. You know, the OBJECTIVE presentation of ALL "known facts" in a given subject, allowing the student to make up their own mind about the subject. The problem of late seems to be the "objective" and "all" portions are too often left out.

yup, like we had in the 50s in Sweden.....education with real teachers, tests with scores, resposibility....its a rough world, you wont be prepared for it if your whole upbringing you`re treated with kid gloves.
but you wont get 100% of that because of the 'separation of church and state" which many read as NO talk about religion in school....thats wrong, education includes education about religion(s), all kinds...back when I was in school there was a study called "christianity" ,but it entailed studies of ALL religions...for better understanding of others....actually an importat feature of school...imho

...and stop lowering the bar just to push students though school. How many successful people are there who maintained a "D" average or lower?
I'm a hobbyist. Not a professional. Don't be hatin'!
I'm on my 23rd year as a teacher and I always see many comments about teachers on here so here are my 2 cents (for whatever it's worth). There are 2 problems as far as I'm concerned (at least here in Ca.). One is that we have a union that protects poor teachers and rewards teachers based on years served only rather than a combination of performance and other things that actually make sense. The other thing is that parents do not hold their own kids accountable. Homework is almost never done, studying is almost a thing of the past. Discipline is almost not there entirely. Just speaking from my own experience. It's not always true but it is way too often.

A thing I figured out in my upper teens.... a good teacher doesnt necessarily need to KNOW all he/she is teaching, but to make it interesting for the kids to want to learn it! Just because a teacher had good grades, doesnt make him or her interesting enough to want to learn from.....good teachers are interesting , makes the thing they teach interesting...
if I had a good teacher , I could soak most of it up in class, and not study much at home...a poor teacher made it boring so you didnt listen in class ,then had no desire to study it at home either...
and 'respect'...you should have respect for teachers, just as parents....and respect is not given ,its earned!

Also true but some has to be taught. I have some students who come in, day one, and have no respect. No matter what I do and to what lengths I go to they still will not show respect for me or their class mates. There is only one place that comes from.
Not sure if Cliff got a suspension or not. But he went off site just as/or right after it was removed. Didnt even get into it with anyone that i noticed. Started a thread about get'n jumped on another forum when he responded to an engine build or some'tn. Said he doesnt go there, but someone asked him to respond. If its the site think it is, try to stay away myself. Had very personal PM's about my stolen parts and money. Next thing others know. It wasnt the other persons on PM's as we where try'n to flush the thief/thiefs out.
It seems like anyone can know more about their subject than most anyone else but the art of conveying that knowlege in a way that makes others want to know more is what makes a good teacher. Not everyone can do that. No matter how much they know. Just because you know it, doesn't mean you can teach it even if the pupil is willing. IMO.

true, today ,you are 'bound'.....and yes , parents are at fault...together with govts rules....as in Sweden , you arent allowed to spank your kids ,no matter what...some need it to get respect for the parents....I`m not talking abuse here, just simple spanking....early on to set the 'pace'
Will I vote for him again? Depends on who runs against him. I NEVER "do a straight party ticket". That is completely mindless. I ALWAYS look at the individuals and what they "bring". Any candidate wanting to continue "business as usual" concerning corporate entities being "citizens", the economy more important that We, the People, sending kids off to die in a desert for an ecomnomic agenda, all will NEVER get my vote. As a Vietnam era vet (not a combat vet) and remembering what happened here and more importantly, WHY, has made me completely cynical of the government in general, and especially those that wield power based on lobby "strength".

LOL,, I hope you wont...I`d even vote for Hillary if that would stop him....in my 40 plus years in the US , I think he`s the most dangerous in that office, for the "future" of this country....One of the reasons I still research Panama , for "just in case".
I often wonder how in the H-ELL Obama got elected in the first place? Black vote? NO... I really think "WE" american citizens have no control of our government. Look at old Little Bush he was put into office without winning anything. "WE" need to take our country back now before there is nothing left of it. Or worse yet china comes here looking for there money..... Just my opinion.... But it is heart felt about the matter at hand.
Blacks made a BIG diff where i vote. For Bush there was 98% white voters in line. About 10 mins waiting in line. For obumer is was 75% black. Over an hour wait cause 90% of them didnt know how,
Has anyone else wondered what our founding father's would say if they were alive today. Personally I think they would look at us citizens and say "What the hell have you been doing?" "How the hell did you let our government get so bloated?" "We gave you the right to bear arms for a reason, but your to fat and lazy to figure out why."
I would support any change in government if for the good. Why is it so hard to do what is right? Screw being politically correct bullcrap!!!! It has been way past due for our country to take back our government.... Stop the bleeding of our economy and out sourcing jobs. We need industry, commerce and a working population..... Lazy people need there free loading cut from them. The working man/woman can't do this anymore.....
I've said it once, I'll say it again, the majority of the problem is the career politicians. Get them the heck out of there! Lawyers have no place in D.C. Bring in people who know how to run a business.

Last week we went to a townhall meeting with our new US House Rep where that subject came up. He feels the same and has openly pledged to run for a max of three 2-year terms. Don't expect a Constitution change to force term limits but maybe the voters need to start pushing candidates to make voluntary pledges to limit their time in an office.

bing ,bing, we got a winner!
plus the problem that congress votes themselves ,free this ,free that , different health care than they say we (the people) should have, retirement = full pay forever...etc...
problem is , how do you convince them to vote themselves out of things they now have?? looks like we need another revolution....thats why the fathers of the country were wise enough to have second amendment...guess why many politicians are trying to get rid of it all the time?? and its not hunting rifles...its the weapons needed to get rid of an oppressive govt!

maybe...but BC must be watching..I bet he`s (or she!) the one , not Ccass himself at this point.... I emailed Chris , but no response...I doubt I`ll ever hear from him...and all this over GACH! who I never met , have no clue to who he is...and seems like he should be the one "gone" based on all the info...lol
Heard two versions. Somehow Gach got into PY's system and found Mods where talk'n about members or some'tn. Must of not been good cause Gach blackmailed CCass. Other story was Gach was gon'a help sponcer the site($$$$). Heard nothing good about him in all the years i got back into the hobby(01-02?)
could believe either....based on what I`ve heard about him...of course all this started because his "apology" thread....it started , then got long ,he never replied once in it....and people wondering about him....then "moderating" in the poll thread, which was un-neccessary ,it was an OPEN poll...BlackCat decides to delete it...moderating the un moderated forum...everybody gets upset...Brian asks what we think , , 'should an un moderated forum be moderated".?? I said "imo no"....banned...
