Kind of fun to read these to see the different experiences people have with companies. I have Hagerty and have found them extra easy to deal with. When I bought my vette last year they insured it as having classic plates. Michigan secretary of state's rule is the vehicle needs to be OVER 25 years old so my car couldnt be registered as a classic until January. Got a note from Hagerty requesting a copy of my classic registration which of course I didnt have. So instead of charging me the difference they offered to switch the insurance to storage for the winter and just call them in the spring to switch back. That was fine with me since the car was already stored for the season. Saved me substantial $$. They even invited me to stop by their offices if I am ever in the area.

I told my insurance agent my car's value was $10-12k. We went with Hagerty. In 2012 I paid $193 for insurance and for some reason my rate dropped to $157 last year.

I think I am paying them right around 600 for the bird ( value 25000) and the vette (value 23000).

We can get Classic plates on our cars up here but the car must be used only for car shows? Do you think that's why they are quoting you a reduced price? Meaning they presume your not driving the car on the road.

Hagerty used to limit how many miles a year you were supposed to drive but they gave that up a few years ago. Either they figured most classics's speedos were not correct or that guys were smart enough to get around their stupid little rules anyway. They do still require you to furnish proof that you have a daily driver as well. And they won't give you a policy if there is a minor in the household with a drivers license unless he/she has their own car. Guess they don't want to insure the kid taking dad's hotrod out for a cruise. They also require it to be inside a locked garage or storage area when not being used. Most of their conditions are pretty fair I'd say.

I'm with American Modern and have been for a few years. I have my T/A with them on the same policy as well. Two small claims and they were great to deal with. I also have an extra provision, a rider, that allows me to drive to work occasionally. While I havn't driven to work in one of the Pontiacs in a while it's well worth the peace of mind..
