The corners of my 400 hood (cowl side) are crushed, not real bad but...my body guy says it will probably be cheaper to replace the hood than to repair it. Any thoughts?

I doubt it....mine were crushed from shipping (standing on rear corners in shipping from Canada to Houston ,Tx.....was missing about 1 to 1.5 inch ea side! ...I welded in a piece of steel as structural base , them fiber glassed them 'to shape'...9 plus years ago...holding up just fine....not sure how much I spent...1 to 2 hour total?
I'm sure the hood is shot. I'll pay for shipping to take it off your hands. A new hood is more than likely going to need a little attention even though it's new. It's bound to have a small dent or two along with needing the front tip adjusted a little.

I see my attitude is rubbing off on Robert these days...

Tom, Id like to take credit for the crushing, but, it was that way when I got it from another '69.
Before deciding on a replacement hood, Id look at taking down all of the hood to metal to see what else is there. I know on that hood there are two holes near the front where there used to be those 70s hood locks. But I dont know if theres more under the primer, under the verdoro green.
My repair thoughts mimic Bjorns in that I would have welded a small extension part and then fabricated the final tips. Or.. find a donor 350 style hood (fairly cheap) and cut and weld those tips to the 400 hood... or.. as you said, simply get a different 400 hood (used or new).
TBell not sure where your located but there is one in West Jordan for $350. Just heads up he has had on KSL for a while this is the second time he has listed it.
