Hello all
I have a 68 with a 350 that is currently being rebuilt. The owner of the shop suggested that I look at getting a hood with the ram air intakes for show. I know it is a personal choice but what do you think about replacing the hood.

I think the real issue is which aftermarket hood actually fits...

If you want to be different keep the 350 hood. There are more 400 hoods running around on cars than 400 cars were made.

My aftermarket 400 hood fit okay but still required some body work to be very good. My original 400 hood was a bit crunchy in too many of the edges to be really worthwhile saving.

Depends if you like the look of the flat hood, or the scoops.

I bought a used 400 hood for my "former 350" car, b/c I like the looks , plus P.O> had already switched to a 400 engine....so I 'continued' the conversion....

The 350HO will always be one of the best sleepers of all time.

dog dishes and flat hood.....

I use my sprints hood as a garage ornament and did the open scoop 400 with the aftermarket pans...

IMO the biggest appeal to birds has been the twin scoops. I would not be too concerned about "everyone has them" thinking. The car gatherings I have been to hardly have any firebirds there.

The flat hood does make for cool sleeper.

How much HP/lb would that work to?

The Pontiac brass would roll over in thier grave if you did it!

Ed Olson has already done it....but a bored out 455...but also a "bored out" TR 6...= lengthened some...but it really doesnt look like a sleeper....but ,really nice....about 1000 Lbs lighter than a bird.

this is the new turbo version...

the turbocharged Pontiac motor hasn't been tested yet, but with a previous 455cid engine this car achieved a 6.02 second, 120mph 1/8th mile.

Cool! I remember you talking about that car last month.

To fast for me. I need cruise control and a rear view mirror for my handycap sticker.
Lol laugh

might want to go T/A hood. Looks great on a non T/A or non 400 car.
