I was thinking of having my car judged a few times for giggles to see how I would do initially, then improve on the car over time. Not at all a person who is into "my car is better than yours" thing, rather an idea on how close I can get on a resto.
Been trying to check out POCI site for judging guidelines as far as what is deducted, acceptable, allowable as far as correct replacement parts but I can't find anything.
Anyone know if correct replacement parts (not NOS) or say aftermarket, yet correct coded/dated radiator hoses, plug wires, belts and say correct appearing Delco battery is acceptable?
Anything information I didn't cover would be appreciated...

There are a handful of automatic deductions for aftermarket and or non OEM upgrades. Even deductions for radial tires! They are pretty hardcore for the most part...
There will be nothing aftermarket (radio, headers, floor mats) There will be aftermarket reproductions of weatherstrip, rubber bumpers...the wear items.

IF you do not get dinged by any mandatory deductions, then you'll prob do just fine. Most people can't make it past those right off the bat!
I am also considering going for POCI judging, I'm thinking I could maybe still do ok even with the radial tires and disc bake upgrade. As long as those were the only two dings I might still be able to squeeze through but would never be able to move up unless I went back to drum brakes and non radials. Not sure that would ever happen...
I have taken my Bird to the Greensboro, NC (General Greene) chapter of the AACA's show and won a first, but it would not be a gold car at POCI. It has radials, the engine compartment could be nicer and the underside is not super clean. The points judging at POCI is much tougher. A regional AACA show is probably tougher I suppose, but the AACA is looking at many different makes so it is hard for them to be too strict.
POCI is what you are after as far as having someone look at correct vs incorrect. It has been a while since I have looked at that manual, but I believe they get pretty strict, especially for nicer cars. It is human nature to look harder if there is little to deduct for. Having someone who eats and breathes Firebirds look at your car at POCI would be helpful of course.
AACA is tough, but nothing like POCI. Our bird scored high enough to get it's Jr. award through the AACA but we never tried again for Sr. I find the whole point thing interesting and quote challenging. IMO it's a real accomplishment to score well at a points judged event opposed to peer judging. Anyone with enough friends can win at a peer judged event, but points are points plain and simple.
If I were to ever do a complete resto on a car, that would be my goal to score 100% at a points judged event...
