The fuel guage on my 67, 230 cu in Firebird is sticking at the 3 pm position. It moves slightly from time to time. I checked the volts on the connection inside the trunk it seems normal. I reached behind the dash guage and can not feel any wires going into the back of the guage. Should there be any wires going into the fuel gauge?
If you mean 3pm being way past full, if I remember correctly, the gage will do that when you lose the ground. There is a ground wire from the sender to the frame that comes from the top of the tank and towards the front of the car...one wire, find it and clean up the connection...a place to start anyway. And no, there is only one connector at the back of the cluster, it plugs into the circuit board for the gages/lights.
