Some of what was done on the interior is a little cheezy, but it's still a fun car. I took a pic in the sun. It's tagged as an Antique in Texas, so it runs '67 license plates. Smudged out the plate number, don't want the whole internet to be able to look up my address!
The forum is shrinking the pics, but feel free to get the properties and open them full-size by pasting the link into another browser window.
When I was getting the exhaust work done yesterday, they said a white 69 Firebird had come through that morning. If anyone sees this, it was at AAA Exhaust in downtown Garland.
I was invited to Cars and Coffee last week but didn't go.
I got a "Top 10" plaque in the show we entered last weekend! A 69 Camaro with a 502 got best of show. There were several 67-69 Camaros there, I was the ONLY Pontiac (much less Firebird) in the show!
Congrats Robbie thats awesome! Got any pics? See guys, we just have the get the birds out there and they show well among the gaggle of camaros. We could really punk 'em out if we show up in numbers. Anybody make it out yesterday? The weather was nice. Rain and cool temps today though, really feels like fall now. Well I made a flyer for the car show in Arlington on the 22nd. Hank (with the GTP) and myself still plan to go to the POCI deal but it will be early and then we have to leave for the other show which starts at 11. Hank will be making a road trip but he's pretty fired up and said he will get up as early as he needs to, lol. I need to call Greg as he doesnt post here. Tony, hopefully you're still up for an outing? Here is the text from the flyer. Danny

Car show this Saturday in Arlington. I hope some of you guys that have posted here can make it. Weather looks fantastic for Saturday, high of 79 low 54, mostly sunny partly cloudy, zero chance of precip.
I just looked up Sunnyvale and it's REALLY close to me! I'll mark my calendar and we will plan on attending. Post more on the Sunnyvale event as you get it, such as how to pre-register, if possible. We will skip the Arlington event (That's really far for us) but will be at Sunnyvale.
Robbie here is what I have on the POCI deal, posted below. That is still only tenative for Hank and I as the times just overlap too much. I did map the distance between the two events and it's only 45 minutes. You should reconsider the Arlington show! If we go to Sunnyvale I'd like to leave there by 10 am to get to Arlington by 11. Sunnyvale starts at 8 but I have no idea how much is going to be going on that early or how early Hank can actually show up. I'll probably leave it up to Hank as he is going to start the day with a commute from his dads place in Ft Worth.
2nd Annual Pontiac-Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac GMC Outing, sponsored by the Lone Star Chapter/Pontiac Club. Hours from 8am to 2pm at Fast 440 Car Lot in Sunnyvale, TX at 536 Long Creek Road. Just east of Dallas on Hwy 80 past Mesquite. Take the Collins exit, stay on service road for 2 miles, it is on the right at the top of the hill. A casual gathering for all of GM's finer vehicles. No class awards, but special recognition awards will be given. $10 entry fee includes one hot lunch, desert, drink. Extra meals are $7. For more info call Glen at 972-239-5014 or gbalko@sbcglobal.net.
I can't make the Arlington show. I have too much going on.
If you decide to not go to Sunnyvale, let me know. If you do, I'm going to skip it as well since I have a full weekend of work to do. If you are going, a friend and I will stop by.
Hey Robbie, I talked to Hank a little while ago and he's still waxing his car at his dad's. We are not going to be able to make it to sunnyvale. I'd like to but thats alot of running around to do both and it's late already. We are still going to the arlington show. Wish you make it. Hey its only 45 minutes if you reconsider and they have lunch for us. Well, if not tomorrow, next time.
You need a Dallas /FtW version of the HALF group.....no dues,no rules ,no officers ,just fun....we get together mostly weekly...some of us...not a full group, but always some...then we get on the full fledged crusies , meets etc in between...
Yup, we need to get together here in DFW. The comradery of the HALF group that I met at CBR was inspiring. Having more than one bird together is really cool experience and a killer photo op. We’ll keep trying. Txbobcat (Bob) made it out in his 65 Cat as well so we had 3 Pontiacs there. Here's a pic of Hank and I's ugly mugs.
I have a group for Jeeps that is exactly like what you are talking about HALF being. No dues, no rules, no officers. It was extremely active until the economy went downhill over the last 5 or so years. The rock crawling sport can be pretty expensive, so lots of folks have gotten out. I also am part of a similar group in Dallas for those with interests in wine. It is still active. It would be nice to have somewhere for us Firebird folks to get together.
BTW, I've been kind of absent here lately. I have been struggling to get the steering box out of the car and it's been a little frustrating. I have no idea how they got the engine in the car the way the headers fit. Unfortunately, I'm in a catch 22 where I can't get the driver's side header out due to the steering box being in the way. I did finally get the steering box completely unhooked and loose in the header, now if I can get the remaining header bolts out I think I can lift the whole unit out as one. What a pain. There is just really no room around that steering box when headers are installed! I have seen some that fit better than my Hookers at the local car shows, for example the Doug Thorley headers seem to be a much better fit.
I did finish the dual exhaust. I can't begin to describe how much lower the interior noise is compared to having it dump in front of the rear axle.
Anyway, the downside is I don't have a 'bird to cruise in until I get this box out and the new one in.
Mine's been down for a year. Having two projects at once is not a good idea, plus we've been doing work on a couple of other rock crawlers in my garage too. Mine is getting Dana 60s front and rear with all 35 spline shafts, new Atlas II transfer case, 42" Iroks, 5.13 gears, all new suspension using 3 link in the front and 4 link in the back, Fox air shocks, etc. I'll be glad when it is done. We pretty much finished the second one, but he took it out one time and destroyed his hydraulic steering and both his front air shocks. We pulled his cylinder, put on high steer arms, built new drag link and tie rod, and hope to ship his bent cylinder and my steering box out of the 'bird to PSC for a rebuild at the same time. The third Jeep is in the middle of a 350 swap. We had it all done and found out the rebuild on the 350 was done incorrectly; the owner installed the rings without gapping them, and the engine was so tight we couldn't turn it over. Most likely having all these going at the same time is adding to my frustration and making me a little tired of working on vehicles.
siounds like my friend stacys garage...he`s building an exterior roll cage for his 'buggy'...plus working on his Firebird , been adding a supercharger...his 3 car garage only holds half of his cars...
Oh, you brought up something I forgot. Once mine is done with all the suspension work, we have to build a new cage for it. I have to buy a new ram for the bender between now and then too.
Well I've been quite preoccupied the past couple of weeks. Here is what all the fuss is about, here’s my boy! Meet Sam. He will no doubt be attending some car shows with me next summer but I wont let him drive 'till he can reach the pedals. "Go ahead, make my day." -Sam
Danny, if you ever need out and don't mind coming to Garland, we are about to be overloaded with shop work here at my house. Not asking for help, just offering a place to get away for a bit and enjoy shop work. The 350 for one of the Jeeps we have been working on just got completed. The hydraulics for the second Jeep just came back as well. Best of all, I have the new steering gear for the Firebird, and we need to put that in. I am going to get the steering column pretty soon, so we have that job to do. You are more than welcome to come over anytime!
Good time to work on the car. This winter has been so much more milder than last. Remember exactly a year ago when the temp stayed below freezing for about 4 days? Friggin' too cold to work on a car for me. This winter I've already had to cut the yard once and it could use it again.
Yes I do. We were out in the garage every night for a couple of months during that time. We were trying to get our Jeeps ready to go on a bachelor run. Luckily, I have a very effective heater in the garage. Kind of like a Dearborn heater but in the wall.
I took the 'bird to get gas and had 2 people walk up and start asking questions about it just while I was putting 8 gallons in! The car gets a ton of attention!

they do, after awhile you`ll get used to it...but also lots of "knowitalls" questions...lol...like "is it a big block"? or "I like it, my parents had one just like it ,but a 65"! (that one happened to me....) yup its was a very rare "early" model that 65./...
I got lots of "I used to have one just like that" stuff.
My favorite idiot encounter was a guy insisting my '68 'vert wasn't a 'real' 400 because it didn't have a hood tach. The guy was right in my face, spittle running down his chin and all.
I just told him to have a nice day...

My first car was a 56 Chevy. I was used to it back then, but that was 1982. And yes, I got lots of "I used to have one just like that" stuff.
and hopefully you didnt have a YOM lic plate! lol... I drove mine to lunch one day,sat outside eating my burger ,two guys come out ,sit at table next to me... one says to his buddy: "nice car(pointing to the Bird), what is it ? a GTO?"
smart buddy says: "No its a Firebird"
stupid guy says: "How do you know"?
smart guy:"it says so right there on the fender" ..lol
of course you'd need to know how to read to notice that...
