Could someone post a picture of what they look like? These are the 2 clips clips on the bottom of the automatic shifter plate that seem to always be broken off. Does anyone make repros of these clips?
The clips on the underside of the shifter plate are almost always broken. They were spot welded to the underside of the shifter plate from the factory. The first time the dealer (or a shop) needed to remove the console, or get at the shifter, or even replace a shifter indicator light, they pulled and pried on that plate, and the clips broke.
It became such a problem that Pontiac issued a tech bulletin in 1969. The official fix : drill two holes in the shifter plate and screw it down.
NOS shifter plates, without the holes, are very rare.
Mine has both of the clips broken, but no holes have been drilled. The previous owner used some black rope caulk to stick it down to the console. It actually worked quite well.
this clip isnt 'original'...and I dont know what its supposed to look like...this one has been repaired and I dont know if it works.... ...and per seller this is how you fix it

Its an easy repair, get spring clip from hardware store and fasten with metal 'fasten all' screw, once its in place it will never move or come off. The metal screw is fastenall brand
and I may 'let go' of this one...not sure I want to mess with removing my old and fix the other clip on this etc....being lazy , I may just live with what I have...otherwise this one looks pretty good......
