Hard to find. I looked for about 2.5 years until I found one.

Will the front base adapter work/fit? It just wouldn't be "correct" or are they a completely different size?
Not really. The front adapter has a flat base to sit on the flat part of the front fender. The rear bases have a sloped bottom and wedge to account for the sideways slope of the top of the rear quarter.
Sizewize, (thread) I think they are the same.

I don't think so. But now that I have seen all those pictures, I am getting them all mixed up with the vision in my head.
Remember, at my age, I am easily confused...

Looking for hard to find antenna parts? This might be worth an email try:
It's been several years now since I used this source, but when I discovered that the repro antenna nuts poor quality I got an NOS one from a guy named Dennie at NOSantennas@aol.com. The dealer was advertising in Hemmings back 7-8 years ago.

His email address no longer works. Looks like he has passed away...
I don't have the nos part numbers for 68. Oldsmobile Obsolete has original GM parts, but they are a little high on their prices. It's much faster if you have the original GM part number when you go to the site. http://oldsobsolete.com/

The parts car that I picked up last weekend had the hole for the rear antenna, but nothing there. I like the front antenna location myself.
