Hey all I finally made room in the garage to start working on my 69' bird. I pulled the rear end the other day and I found this code: 2 TX G80724
Can anyone tell me anything about it? I haven't been able to find TX as any firebird code so i'm thinking it came out from another car. Any help would be apreciate.

Post a pic. It's easy enough to narrow it down if we can see it.

Well it's not a Pontiac. My guess would be a 10 bolt chevy. It's kind of hard to see the inspection cover. Could be Camaro or Nova. Not sure if the yoke accepts the same U-joint or not.

I downloaded the pic and zoomed in. Definitely a 10 bolt chebby. Not the greatest rear end in the world. A Nova or Camaro rear would fit a FGF.

I did a little more research on the net today and found that 2TX is a code for a 78' nova . Looks like i'll be needing a new rear end. Thanks for all the knowledge guys... Makes me wonder if the frame is original? Time to do some more research on the forum!

If it's from a '78 Nova, then it's the stronger corporate 8.5" and will bolt right in.

Nothing wrong with that rear end unless you are looking for originality with a 8.2 BOP

Nope, not looking for it to be original. Just don't want to have fitment issues. My bird was just about ready to be thrown away... it needs floors, trunk, fenders one door skin, quarters.... and for some reason the roof is like a trampoline.

One way to avoid fitment issues is to install an original 8.2 Pont. But then you already knew that.

haha very true. but since I already have this rear end i might use it. I also have a 74' nova that i could use the rear end off of it.
