I need one "400" hood emblem, not to be confused with the trunk emblem that won't work for my application. If you have one "400" hood emblem in new or near-new condition, drop me a PM with your shipped price to 35811 (Huntsville, Alabama). These are readily available, but only in pairs. I only need one emblem. Also, if you know where I can buy just one emblem, please let me know. I've already spent enough money on this car, so hate to buy the pair! Thanks in advance for your help.
I may have just one. Do you need a driver's side, or passenger?
I don't know of anyone that sells only one, unless you stumble across one on Epay or something. Then you have a 50:50 chance it's for the correct side.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! HEMI is amazing! 1998 Silverado Z71 - Father-daughter project 1968 400 coupe - R/A clone (Blue Pearl) (sold) 1967 326 convertible - Sold 1980 T/A SE Bandit - Sold
I have not figured out which side it fits yet if they are indeed NOT interchangeble. Shortly after I bought it I realized I was heading towarad a 455 and got emblems for that engine instead.

They both 'lean' towards the front of the car. If you hold them up and look, you can usually figure it out.

Thanks. Just it's a pain to get into the attic right now and that's where those "little" parts are stashed.

Actually, it doesn't really matter to me which way it leans. I'm going to attach it to a Camaro-style spoiler on the right rear in the area where the trunk emblem would have been. So left or right lean is OK. However, in this political climate, I'd have to say I prefer RIGHT. Ha! Seriously, either way will work. It just needs to be in great shape. PM me some prices. Thanks.
Blasphemy! You want to mount a New Old (GM) Stock "400" emblem to a CAMARO spoiler?????
OK, I am a tad confused. You could get a low pressure casting of the single trunk "400" from Ames for $25 plus shipping. I can't see from the "spoiler" use why the trunk emblem would not work. The trunk emblem leans to the right.
Trust me, my NOS 400 emblem is going to cost you more than that.

I am told by someone who has already been through this exercise that the trunk emblem won't work because of the convex (or concave?) back profile of the usual trunk emblem. The flat back shape of the hood emblem is the way to go. And I don't need an NOS emblem. It just needs to be in good shape. This is a nice driver vert, not a trailer queen. Didn't mean to offend anyone here.
I was just kidding. You are on the right path now. You just need a spare original right-leaning "400" emblem in decent shape.
Somebody around here will have one.

Hokie, I'm new to all this, but is there another name for that type of spoiler? A C----- spoiler is the only name I've seen used for them. See there, I'm learning!
Don't take it personally, it was a joke. There are many purists on this site that cringe when they hear the words Camaro so I knew someone would chime in. To them the only real spoiler is the one on the 69 TA.
Yeah, I'm not a purist, I'm an "enjoyist". So if I'm not unofficially black-balled from FGF, somebody come through with an emblem for me. I promise I won't reveal your name. ;-)
I've got one out in the garage, One of the hoods I had had one hood emblem and one trunk emblem on it. I'll take a look at it and see what kind of shape it's in. Not sure I remember which is which. One is thicker at the top. I think that one is the trunk one.

the trunk emblem works! here ! I installed it in 04 or 05....just make sure when you drill the holes for the studs that you miss the brace on the back of the spoiler by at least 1/4 " so you can put the nut on it...I didnt....but used one stud/nut and used silicone on the one right next to the brace...as you want the emblem to be just about centered of the the back up light in the tail light....but its installed so far down its almost flat...if you install it in the concave area it wont be seen right anyway! email me at bsefeldt@mhinc.com and i`ll send a picture...or I `ll put a picture in "Ramblings " for you https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=249368&#Post249368 ....mine looks just like in your picture...and as you see , its leans to the right, meaning , if you use a hood embelem , you need one from a passengers side

Keith
here some info on the spoiler(s)....in my opinion, if you have the rear , you`ll need the front..for aerodynamics , in case you drive fast...the rear puts pressure on the rear wheels , but will tend lift the front, where you need the steering wheels on the ground...I found my front spoiler helping the 'float' on the front at speeds over 80...
this article will explain the spoilers....you may get some ribbing from having the Camaro spoilers, like the front "snow plow", but just grow thicker skin, as your car will 'behave' better! lol
