Should I keep these? Any Idea what there worth? They are large valve heads off a 68. Was thinking of selling them and I have no idea what to ask for them. They are used and appear in good shape . Of course i would have them redone if I used them... Thanks Ron

They are worthless unless you have a boat and can use them for anchors. This being said you are in luck and I have such a boat

I sold a couple of sets for $250, they sold quick, I still have one set that I'm holding also since that seemed cheap, I think they are worth about $350 - $400 for a fair price, you just may not sell as quickly

Now I'm curious....... I have 670 heads on my 68 400 motor. I didn't build the motor so I'm not sure of the specs. Should I consider replacing them with these 16s?
The only problem with #16 heads is knowing for sure which set you are talking about. There were three differant #16 heads and each set was differant. One set was small valve push in studs ('69). One set was large valve screw in studs ('68-69) and one set was round port ('73-74). The large valve screw in studs should bring around 400 for the set. The rould port (which was Super Duty) worth around 2500. The #16 head is a good head to use use to build power with if it is the round port or the large valve screw in studs. Otherwise a boat anchor would be just as good.
As far as the 670 heads they are a closed chamber head from 67. I've always like them. If you read about them they say to open the chamber up and then they are one of the best D port heads. The 16 and 670 are 72 cc heads or at least that is what Pontiac put out. If you want originallity then the 16 for '68. Just my $.02 worth on them.

I sold a couple sets of 670 heads I had got around $250-300 for those, I kept some #16-#62-#061 and a couple of #13's but if you look through CL some of those nuts are trying to get $800 and up for them, I cant believe any informed pontiac enthusiast would pay that, Ive even seen 6x's priced at $300 or more, I sold butler 6 sets of those at $60 a set

on the wallace site the report on flow for the the good #16 heads are right up there in flow with the #48. I have the good #16 heads and they take the bigblock 7/16 chevy rocker studs , screw right in. then just pick up some SS valves a good set of springs , keepers and rockers and they breathe very well!
I got mine for 300 from a guy who tried running them on his 455, found compression to high and took them off. They were sitting on the floor of his garage he was going to toss them. i saw the 16 and screw in studs offered him 300. he grabbed it . all together with parts and machining plus pocket porting. i have about 1000 in the heads. id like to find another pair.
Have done a few sets of 16's but dont have numbers for untouched heads. here are exact intake numbers for stock #48 with stock valves. @28 H2O .100 = 75 .200 = 139 .300 = 182 .400 = 191 .500 = 196 .600 = 199
Well im very happy with the #16 heads , mine got accidently pocket ported. I dropped them off at a local engine shop that came highly recommended by many as not a typicle machine shop. i went and spoke with the owner about what i wanted done. I had all the guides done, new ss valves , higher rev springs, new valve job. But the person whom did the job misunderstood what he was suppossed to do. should have only cost 350. he called me up and said all set 750.00 , i was like how did you go from 350 to 750? he read off what they did , he got to the pocket porting. i stopped him and said, um i never said to port them. he put me on hold , came back and said our mistake my machinest assumed you wanted the ports cleaned up. so is 400.00 fair? sure is lol. thanks!
I had the same machine shop do the block . Cleaned , tanked ,magged .010 off the decks. also cleaned up the oilpan surface, and the timing cover clean up, bored over .030 honed to each piston for correct clearance. 600.00
nah , didnt get that lucky. i got the block from a freind of his in VT, the deal was i wouldnt buy the block unless he had it magged first. I had already wasted enough money on blocks that turned up to be trash. it is a 69 block , id like to find a 455 local to build over the winter . But now , well soon im picking up a 69 or 70 nova for my 454 i have in the shed. I used to have 62 impala ss 350, my ex-wife got that in our divorce. I didn't care for the car much anyway.
