Does anyone know where I can get the fresh air vent cable assemblies for my non-AC '69 vert? My car does not have the Astro Ventilation, so just has the knobs under the dash on each side. One of my mounting brackets is broken, and the drivers side cable sheath is split. I can find a lot of replacement knobs for sale, but not the entire assembly (cable, bracket and knob). Help? Thanks.
I may have a set i'll look. the knobs arent perfect, but i found if you have a plastic polishing kit . I buff the knobs , or you can use tooth paste and polish the plasic. then paint them with "chrome paint" light coats. then let it dry real good , sit it in the sun. then polish it again. when it looks nice and shiney. put a couple light coats of clear to protect the silver. its not quite a chrome look , but it does look real nice.
Both really. The bottom line is, I can't stop the flow of air coming through those dash vents. In the summer it's fine, but got awfully cold back during the winter. I turned the round bezels to try to block the air, with limited success. The cables may be disconnected from the flapper valve, but even if I fix that I still have one bad cable (drivers side) and one broken dash mount bracket (passengers side).
Will start putting the interior back together in 2-3 weeks.
Im going tomorrow, it was too hot in the loft today , he forgot to open the windows up there for me. he will first thing in the morning. im going over around noon.
Replacement knobs are available as a Chevelle part. They're virtually identical to orginals and are installed as push-ons with a drop of crazy glue on the cable end to keep them fron turning or coming off.
there actually is a work around for the camaro cables used in the birds. only diff. is how they mount and adjust so if you took the cables and the clamps they should work.
