Hi All. I'm headed out to look at this car later today. Any thoughts on the value of this car? Seems overpriced, and since it's at a dealership, I want to make sure it's not inflated. I haven't been able to find any comparable sales on the net. Seems like it's a rare combination to be in such great shape, albeit, not desired by many. A lot of money for such a slow car, but there is some special history there that if well preserved still makes for a fun ride.
I briefly looked at a few pics...car looks 'ok', but a coupe , 6 cyl and $18k its waay up thee...and yes a dealerhip will always want to make money...I`d add in $3-5000 for dealership....then a good 6 cyl coupe is most likely in the 6 -10 range, convert is more...but remember this is just MY opinion.
Maybe if it was a more popular color, with the Sprint package and and 4 speed and had more options (Ralley IIs etc.)it could be worth that much. It looks like a good restoration.
But that car as it sits is way overpriced (my opinion).
Dealerships will almost always come down on their listed price but I doubt they would come down to where it is close to the actual value.
Overall, appears to be a tight restoration. Check the front right corner of hood (alignment). Run a flexi-magnet over the body to check for bondo. That looks like a low miles orig. motor.. Would be neat to hear it run.. Should be quiet with it's rubber timing belt! Maybe you can lowball on an offer and I wish you luck! Let us know!
I have a 67 Sprint Convertible in the exact same color scheme. Mine is not restored but has many more options. Concur with whats been said, priced too high. I'm thinking 12-13K.
Let us know what you think. That car is way overpriced. Its been on craigslist for a couple of months. I think they started at 21 and are slowly dropping the asking price.
My '67 'vert has a similar color combo.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I went and looked at the car this past weekend. It was really, really nice. I think pricing is relative, maybe i just dont know where to look, but well restored cars that are unmolested or modified seem to be more and more difficult to find. The fact that someone put so much effort into a OHC car is cool to me.
Value is determined by the buyer, which in this case is you. If your goal is to keep and have the car for the next ten years, it may make sense to buy the car. If you plan to have a it a couple years and resell it, then it may not.
With that said, it does feel a little on the high side, but if it were had for $15K, I would be happy with that.

Very nice car! Love the Gold on Gold! Can't see anything wrong with it from the pics. I would assume 100% awesome restoration ... then start looking deep! Find anything bad and you can hammer the guy down as much as $5k. Find nothing wrong, beg for better deal and buy it either way. It's worth what you are willing to pay for it. You could buy a beater and drop $30k in it and get the same results. This one is ready to drive. Excellent, original, unique car, that will definitely garner interest at car shows.
But then, I love the cars so much I'd buy all of em if I had the money (or Craigs).

It looks real nice, and if the restoration is as good as the pics make it look, I say it's worth that. It takes a whole lot more $$ than that to restore a car to be in that nice a condition, and if you like it, and you don't mind spending that amount, then get it. I think the OHC is a cool little engine, even if it is not a sprint. The OHC is becoming more and more rare due to people tossing them for v8's, which makes this car way more special in my opinion.
