This one wasn't in Chicago, I was on my way to Tuscaloosa when this happened, had a room reserved in the general area of the shooting, and the guy had not been apprehended yet.
Not too mention good ole' boy rahm emanuel just turned chicago into a "sanctuary city", let's see what that does for crime there...
Speaking of the Chicago Rahmulan, his quote back a couple years fits the gun-grabbing mentality well: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
Instead of focusing on the perpetrator, the focus for some gets put on the tools the maniac used.
ratio? 40 million didnt kill any one...one killed 15 ? I would think so....if he hadnt had a gun ,he would just have built bombs or anything else...we have had gun control...really no guns allowed at all , in Sweden as long as I can remember , yet people get killed almost daily...most of them shot , by illegal guns...an illegal gun kills as well as a legal one....but when guns are made illegal , only the crooks have them ,and regular folks have o chance of defending themselves
in switzerland , there are VERY FEW break in, burglaries....wonder why? Every house has a gun...as every man in the country goes into the military and afterwards is issued his weapon ,keep it at home (for defense of the country...when was Switzerland last invaded??)..crooks know ea house has a gun or more, it works as a deterrant.
Quote:
Gun politics in Switzerland are unique in Europe. Switzerland does not have a standing army, instead opting for a peoples Militia to defend their country. The vast majority of men between the ages of 20 and 30 are conscripted into the militia and undergo military training, including weapons training. Due to this fact, the personal weapon of militia is kept at home as part of the military obligations. Switzerland has one of the highest militia gun ownership rates in the world.[1] In recent times political opposition has expressed a desire for tighter gun regulations.[2] A referendum in February 2011 rejected stricter gun control.[3]
Quote:
Once seen as the safest country in Europe, Switzerland has succumbed to the continent’s average levels of street violence, burglaries and assault. A report presented by the cantonal justice and police directors on Tuesday showed a rise in criminal activity since 2004, when the last major study on crimes was carried out.
The number of people burgled also rose in that time, from 5.1 to 7.1 per cent. Robberies were also up, but stayed below the European average. Bike theft leapt, although car break-ins and motorbike theft was down, probably because of better security measures.
Here, if someone knows you have guns in your house they'll find a way to steal them when you're not home. Guns in homes are not a deterrant.
I have no problem with owning guns, got a few myself, getting them, and mainly ammo, needs to be harder though.
No one needs a miltary cache in their home. They may want one, but they don't need one.
so, if everybody had guns at home , every home would get burglarized?
You have guns and say nobody needs them...I dont own any , with exception of a 1865 Reminton 44 , a 30-40 Winchester from late 1800`s (but still works , and I have ammo.)and an old British front loading bird rifle!
Funny...
BUT I want the right to buy and own them....doesnt mean I will. but I want the possiblity to be there...which is non existant in Sweden...you cant even own a .22 (But I know where I can buy assault rifles downtown Stockholm , illegally , in 10 minutes!

This is not true. Have you every had to defend your home?
Back in the 80's I lived a kind of rough area. Lots of crime and breakins. One night while my exwife and I wwere in bed someone tried to come in one of my windows. They knew we were home. I heard some little decorative glass bottles fall and I grabbed my model 94 30-30. Even though it was unloaded I racked the action. No mistaking that sound in the dark. They "crook" jumped back through the window and left hand marks down the white aluminum siding. when the cops showed up they said that I handled it perfectly. I lived there for 5 more years and never had any more trouble at all. The word was out to leave the crazy dude in the white house alone.

this is what I plan to do...I have ammo, but if I have an intruder...I think this by itself will do the trick....the 38-40 will sound excactly the same...and its on the wall in the master bedroom.
The people involved, minus the child, don't seem to be law abiding citizens, especially if they got into an argument over a basketball game. I guarantee you they were not legally carrying those weapons, nor were those weapons obtained legally.
This guy is to blame for his toddler's finger getting shot off. Florida law states you must keep all firearms locked and out of reach of children. Do I deserve to lose my guns because of this guy?
Here's the solution, and if the big bad government wanted to take your guns away and not violate the so called second amendment provision for the general public to own firearms, All they would have to duo is outlaw ammunition and make your firearms useless...... Tax the crap out of the manufacturers of firearms and ammunition and make them unattainable to the common main.
It's a wonder why when the government takes away your right to vote, no one bitches..... And isn't that the first way to stop an oppressive government, by voting them out.
I love guns, own a few, but I also see the need to have some sort of regulation. Next time you go and sit in DMV registering your car, don't you wonder why you don't have the same outrage as when you are asked to register your gun.
To anyone who thinks that 'gun control' could have stopped this crazy massacre, just need to go over the pond to Norway (A gun controlled country)and see the news from a year ago....77 killed...= more than 4 times this massacre....how could that happen ,when guns are controlled?? OK, look up Breivik and Utoya...or check this link...and remember , guns arent allowed in Norway , just like Sweden and other gun controlled places ,see how much good it does. I think that you guys are fooling yourselves if you think forbidding weapons will stop crazies from killing

Hey, you stole that from Obama. That was what he was stumping for as an Illinois state senator in the late 90's. (according to relatives that live in the 13th. I was blissfully ignorant of this here in Arizona).
Like I said, I have guns and like them, I just like to go after conspiracy theorists and people who believe they understand the Constitution without taking history into account. When the constitution was drafted, the "we the people" only really meant white land owner males, and over years and years of social development did we begin to apply it people of all color, and gender. And the intention off a well regulated militia was not to give people the right to bear arms for whatever reason, it gave the states the power to form and equip their own armies so that the Federal Government would not have an army to turn against it's own people. The states would each recruit and hold armies. Hence we have the modern day National Guard Units.
so, anyone can buy guns w/o 'control'...as we know gun control doesnt work....again look at Norway...he killed 4 times as many in a place you cannot buy guns.
I agree with that gun owners should have training...lots of it...but how to enforce that with current law?
And I certainly know that when the constitution was written , there were many slave owners , but people tend to forget...those were actually in a minority.... talking of them 'olden days'...do you know who John Hanson was? he was president here in America before George Washington , who at the time was a general....GW wasnt the first presidentin America...he was just the first ELECTED president under the new constitution (as there were several versions)...there were several guys before him ( 7?) John Hanson was the Swedish (of course! lol)guy from Maryland (neighbor of GW)who was the third president of the "Continental Congress Assembled"
And Columbus didn't discover America, that doesn't change the writing of the Constitution and how it was written, my point is "We the People" wasn't meant to mean everyone at the time, it is with social progress that it means that today.
Time for social progress to redefine the second amendment or what certain people think it to mean. well, 'discovered' can mean many things , Vikings and Leif erocksen did, but so did genrations of American natives before too...I think I remember hearing three different "invasions" of immigrants from Asia.
not sure how you know what they meant back when? "we the people" I bet meant "we the British people living in the colonies, who rebell"...lol
Contrary to some popular belief, the Constitution is NOT a "living breathing document" in either its ability to be changed or in interpretation.
It was meant to be very difficult to change for a reason. It is a legal document that limits government not limits citizens.
I cannot imagine the tyranny that would exist with the current regime if that wonderful document was not in existence or was easily changed or discarded. Even at that, the current regime has trampled on it like it is trash to them.
Excerpts: "As Thomas Lifson noted, citing William Jacobson's report on Chicago's daily count of shooting deaths and injuries, mostly perpetrated by males using guns against males, the total monthly deadly sum in Chicago is far worse than the few minutes of horrific slaughter in Aurora.
Adding to that, many of the Chicago shootings occur within a few miles radius of the Obamas' home. Also, unlike Aurora, Chicago has strict gun control laws.
As both Lifson and Jacobson mentioned, the mainstream media have been fairly quiet about this; not only because it would imply criticism of Obama and his former chief of staff now Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, but because they all belong to the same political party, the Democrats. Their deep Democratic party affiliation unites them and their media enablers, binding them to strike out at others, blaming the usual suspects eg, racism, the rich, poor schools, no jobs, legitimate gun shops instead of those actually responsible for the crimes."
Most ever administration has modified it, that's why there are so many amendments to it.
Just because you hate the current one you think they are the only ones to challenge it? And you disrespect an elected President so much you think he really believes and treats the Constitution as trash? Get real Jim, and cut down on the hatred!
Our forefathers created a great framework, but times do in fact change. Yes it should be difficult and not taken lightly, but in no way could they have envisioned a society armed to the teeth with automatic weapons.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.

1) we are now at president no 44, and some have served twice...so adiministrations are several more...and Amendments: 27. The first ten are known as the Bill of Rights. So, 17 amendments since. The last amendment was added in 1992.So, not quite 'most every admin' 2) cut down the hated? why is it only hatred if its about Obama. why is it not the hatred when it comes to GWBush? besides, the hatred was for the person when it came to GW (by most people), but most people that have hatred bnow is NOT ecause of the person , its for what he stands for and what he does to the country..imho 3) 'society armed to their teeth'... not sure thats a true statement...but why wouldnt they expect it?...it was the reason they wanted it in there, to defend the country by a militia, just like Switzerland still does.
And you disrespect an elected President so much you think he really believes and treats the Constitution as trash? Get real Jim, and cut down on the hatred!
Hatred? No, I hate nobody. I just love of this nation and for the first time in my life have a deep concern for its long term future. I stay quite well informed on current events and politics. I have followed in detail every possible (what is not conveniently sealed or missing) aspect of his life, career, ideology, plans, associates, policies, and what he himself says when off teleprompter. Even beyond the fear of the repercussions of his far left policies, the past 3 1/2 years have been the greatest failure of any administration in my lifetime and probably in the history of the nation.
His trampling of the Constitution has been blatant, insidious and frequent in so many ways (If you want specific examples, I should take them offline with you.)

No thank you, your statement leads me to a conclusion that you are obsessed with following every possible Far Right interpretation of his administration to which their could be no actual debate.
I'm not crazy about the guy and all his ideals, but he was elected and I respect the office and the job he does. Same as with any elected offical, I'll never agree with all of what any of them do.
