My car has a 1974 455 with stock oil pan. The previous owner says the dip stick is not marked correctly for the engine and that the engine builder told him to add 5 quarts and mark the stick, which he never did. I plan to add 4 quarts and mark the add level, and then add a fifth and mark the full level. However, I have heard aboout some stock oil pans with 6 quart capacities. Does anyone know what is correct?
yep. every time I see that, i think IROC. (as in CrapMaro)...
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Every 1 i've had(11) from 67 thru 78 had/have same size sumps. 5.75/6.0 qts w/a filter. The diff is do to the lower tube not correctly located thru the block.
