With my new job I've not had time to tend to my FirstGenSite or FGF, and I don't see things changing any time soon. So...I am going to shut down the FGF site and kill its hosting. Please feel free to pick up any/all content before the end of the year.
I'd like to keep it up, but it's an ongoing cost that I can't justify any more.

I could host it on my website if someone helped me set it up.

I've downloaded what I could in the past, but have had some difficulty navigating the whole site. I say this as others have linked content that I couldn't find by going through the front page.
I would glad archive and share the data, is there a way to do this conveniently, like dumping to a DVD?

Then we buy them and you get a nice Christmas bonus as a reward for providing us all that lovely research material both on the site and for the future.

That's a good idea, dumping the site to DVD. Let me see what I can do with that idea over the next few weeks.
I think that'd be great, I'd buy, um, I mean donate... (check copywrite issues for selling) for one since I'd never take the time to download it all. You have a lot of good info on it. Keep us posted.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
And on that note, I had downloaded the 68 Service Manual and was converting it to PDF but there are a couple of missing pages. Section 3 Custom Air Conditioning, 17th page, has figure 1A-18. Section 16 Engine ID (Mechanical), 3rd page, has Figure 6-4. Section 32 Steering, 43rd page, has figure 9-76.
If anyone has those three pages that you could send me and I can convert it all into a PDF. PM me for my e-mail. Thanks, I would appreciate it. Lee

Although my Bird restoration is on hold for now this site has been a wealth of knowledge...i for one would hate to lose the help this site has given us all...
I would be happy to donate to help pay for hosting etc and keep the site up....
Just so I am understanding this thread. the thread originator, Vikki, is saying they are shutting down the site http://thefirstgensite.com that has nothing to do with this FGF site that this message board resides on right? and people are offering to donate to keep "thefirstgensite" alive or to purchase it's files on DVD? I just read the whole thread and got a little confused. I tried sending a PM to Vikki but it says the users limit is over the max and it will not deliver.
I thought were were talking about donations for DVD's so she does not have to keep maintaining a site she will not have time to take care of.
It's not like all that factory information is going to be changing over time.

Sorry for the late reply. Things have been hectic at work, my best friend and boss quit, and one of my staff of two has just been diagnosed with a serious health issue. So not only am I overworking my own job, but taking on parts of two others.
I have decided to move the site to my "other" hosting, where my farm site lives. Some functionality may be lost, that remains to be seen. But all the images, manuals, and the important stuff should be there. If you find broken content, please let me know. The DNS entries should be updated in a couple of days so, for now, the site will look just the same.
Unfortunately, though site hosting is so cheap nowadays, I started that site 7 years ago when it was not so cheap. The only way to get a better price seems to be to move to a new host. So that's what I am doing. I still want to put together a DVD of manuals and I will host it as an ISO on the site for FREE download for the great people on this site who have helped me with all my Firebird questions over the years.
Life has been good, I've changed gears and am playing with vintage dirt bikes now. Yellowbird still lives in the garage but saw very little use this year because work does not offer a good, damage-free place to park.
I'm planning on a weekend trip to Texas to attend the McAllen Car Fest in late January, if anyone is attending that show I'd be glad to meet up. My Dad's '68 'bird will be there and I can't wait to see it again!

What help do you need from us, Vikki? I'm about to pass through the 5,000 POST mark here and don't want it to be saying goodbye to you, dear lady. I have other ideas on my 5K post.....

I think I have it in hand, friend. Just don't panic if services are briefly interrupted, I'll get it back online as quick as I can. Holidays and all, ya know.

McAllen? I spent a lot of time there years ago and in Reynosa. Lot's of great restaurants in McAllen. It's too bad Reynosa is not a safe place anymore. Enough about that, but Thank you Vikki for all the great information you have offered here and on your site. I was stressing wondering how long it would take to download the 69 stuff. Merry Christmas to all.

The DNS propogation is complete and the content is running on the new sub site. If anyone sees any issues please let me know. I am going to shut down the old hosting.
