I was putting my 67 vert together hopefully for the last time, LOL, and I put the rubber seal on the cowl panel and closed the hood and it now holds the hood up by the thickness of the seal. It is an aftermarket CI seal. I have everything in place and all the panels line up, doors, fender, quarters, hood, etc. It looks like the round center section of the seal is too hard and too thick to allow for the hood to compress it. I know or should I say I think there is no way that all the panels need to raise up to allow the hood to set higher so the seal fits. What could be the problem? Thanks EB
I got the same seal for my 69,same problem as you, held rear of hood up thickness of seal.I threw it away and don't use a seal. Maybe a seal from soft seal would work? softer material. http://www.soffseal.com/store/main.aspx?p=itemdetail&item=3023 I haven't tried them though.
same problem here, used seal for the tonneau cover on my truck...works great
Are you saying you used the one that I am talking about for the tonneau cover or you used a tonneau one for the cowl? If the latter, which one is that. I did not know there was one for a tonneau cover. EB

no, i just used the defective one for the firebird on the rear of my tonneau cover...
It doesn't take much pressure from underneath to hold the rear of the hood up. I used some real soft upholstery foam to make the seal around the lower RA pan. I had to cut it down so that it barely touches the under side because it was doing the same thing.
