Hi, I'm new here! I'm really interested in buying a 68 Firebird, and had a chance to check one out that was for sale this weekend.
It wasn't as nice as it looked in the pictures, but one thing caught my eye. It didn't have the "slits" (don't know what else to call them) in the rear quarters like all of the other 67's and 68's I've seen. Also there was a gap at the front of the quarters and looked like the welds broke loose.
Did someone put 69 quarters on this car? Or could this be a mid year change in production? The tag said it was built in March of 68.
What you were looking at, were 'Maro quarters. As of 15 years ago, (or so) fgf quarters were not being repopped. But 'Maro ones were.
Or they slathered on the bondo to fil over them. But likey the former.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
