in turnig a bad situation good, i thought i post some pics of the original nodular crank/ fb block numbers for my firebird 400 ho. i never see info on the crank numbers or block so here is a start.
cool another ho.. I lost a couple of cam lobes so im in a rebuild process. it's a 2 bolt main. those cranks are awsome bullit proof unit. i just blured the vin numbers. they all match the vin and the transand the dates are in the production date. i did spend the 25.00 on it and its all correct. just the carb/alt is gone everything else is there. wish i had the carb. time will tell. im documenting it so i thought i post some other pics.
here are some pics of the original exhausts headers. along with my own documentation on this car; i have been posting parts pics for those who want help on defining what numbers matching with correct coresponding manufacture date codes looks like and just plain interestes in these rare birds. hope this helps.
sure. ha ha. i have a few more pics of the numbers. here are the heads and the H.O intake manifold numbers. just a note for those who are interested; they are all close together in casting dates. this is what date code correct means.
I didn't think they put 16s on firebirds. Though they only came on the GTOs. I thought the birds had 48s and 62s?
All '68 standard 400's came with # 16 heads. I think '67 as well, but not as up to date on those.

thanks.. i think 400's had the same heads but the ra models. its the wq code and extra stuff added to the 400 that makes it different. mine is a M21 the codes are on the pass side back towards the tail housing near the drain plug. here are some pics of the heat riser.. just got my parts back. I still i hate doing the rope seals. every time i cut them wrong its always a 2 time process for me. I quess i'm doing a flat tappet cam again. there was just too much sh--t to change for a roller. oh well thats the way it goes.
16s it is then. I guess I can stop telling everybody that they are GTO heads then. Clears that up...for now.(I'll probably ask again next week. that's how it goes these days)
