I painted mine based on the HPP article from Feb/April 1999 documenting the factory finishes on a low mileage '67 RA I.
Thus mine are primer gray.

I tried that and will not do it again. I found that the metal still oxidizes behind the clear coat and you can see it.
Didn't somebody post some new "miracle" chemical a few weeks back that prevents bare metal from rusting?

We just painted the rear end and springs yesterday, but i just decided to go with the semi-gloss black. More for the ease and a better paint then a spray bomb that I had planed to use. Oh well.

LOL.. Well, I thought about it long and hard. Kicked it around in the dirt a few times. A real purist would leave them bare steel because they did not have paint on them, which I'm not doing. But I went ahead and choose the black while the painter was shooting the rest of the parts we were doing. With two base coats and a couple clear coats, I thought it would hold up better then me using spay bomb.
But ya, there are several things painted half way from GM but I'm not going to that either. I would rather have a nice detailed clean look then over spray on everything and ends not painted because that is where it was held.
Looks great Harold. Paint on your U-joint cups and yoke might be a bother for you. I would strip the paint of those.
Thanks. I plan to change the u-joints before putting it in. I know, why did I not do it before I painted. That is a different story. We taped the caps that were exposed and the yoke was taped.
