You are just learing this now...? That statement is a given when dealing with these old 'birds. Most full frame restos are $25k to $35k on top of the purchase of the vehicle.

When I purchased the current project it had newer paint, rebuilt engine, along with a few thousand dollars worth of parts. I looked it over with another knowledgeable Pontiac fanatic - even going as far as running a magnet across the body of the the car. Once I got it home I wanted to tear it apart to verify the integrity, which is when the nightmare started. After everything had been gutted I felt it necessary to blast the body thus leading me to findings that I did not want to fine. Nearly 7 years later, it is close to being on road for the first time under my ownership.

I will get it done if it kills me, which I anticipate it will!

Many I talk to state working on these cars is a labor of love. I have concluded it is more a labor of insanity. Regardless, the car is really good to be sweet. I just hope gas won't be $10 a gallon when it is finished.

I gave up keeping track of the $$ spent on the bird. It was just plain depressing. I still have a box full of receipts in my garage that need to be sorted out.
