Tomorrow at 6 am , my buddy Rolf flies out with American Airlines via Miami to Panama City, Panama...on a one way ticket....got it lots cheaper via Miami, and since he`s not on vacation , a little longer trip makes no difference.....hope to hear by the weekend about his meeting with immigration attorney (he`s getting a work visa ,should just be ready to pick up), and that he picked up our car that should be ready and waiting for him at a mechanics place, left there by a Canadian we bought it from(we bought a 95 JEEP Cherokee 4WD w trailer hitch , winch , luggage rack and a snorkel)...then he`ll be driving 6 hrs to Boquete...His 20 ft container was picked up yesterday and ships monday...
I gave him my nice Panama travel map, it will come in handy , even with a gps.

Next, I will have to visit again in the Spring

its a great place , in the highlands area especially....unless you want beach...beaches are almost empty! great nice beaches...beaches are about 88-94 F all year , some breeze...but highlands are 68-78 F every day.....nice rainforests , neat hiking, good food , inexpensive beer!

lfs view...his house backs up to this canyon...I took these pics 2 yrs ago, before we knew he was getting a house right there...his back yard faces this, about 100 yds away...

What's the 'bug' and 'critter' situation down there?

there are some of course, I hear about them , but after my 4 hikes in the rain forests , i still have to see ONE mosquito...but I have not been during rainy season yet...
"other critters", like snakes and poison frogs (Dogs usually bite them , will foam up around mouth and can die) exist , but just dont touch what you dont 'know', dont fan thru the grass with your hands looking for snakes (anywhere in the world)...

Theres an FGF , a 69 Firebird in David , 30 minutes away from Boquete , thats what I`m told...met the guy who supposedly owns it once via a common friend...

Danny, I knew they just raised prices , plus went to the metric system, so I went back to a 'local' post from last week...

I think all stations in David are now on the Metric system. To get the price per gallon multiply by 3.78.

91 octane (Panama), which is 87 octane in the US would be $3.91.
95 octane (Panama). which is 91 octane in the US would be $4.27.

gas is a little more than here (also set by the govt, so its the same price everywhere in the country), not by much , but remember , everything is closer , you dont drive as far

got a call from my buddy around 5.30 last night ,he was in cab going to his hotel....was going to see atty this morning and go get the car at the mechanic, then get it registered....if he gets done before 11, he`ll head out...if not he`ll stay one more day as after 11 he gets charged for hotell room one more day...I bet he`ll be one more day...DMV`s never work fast , anywhere , and they will not be any faster in Latin America...lol

talked to him last night..after being stuck in Panama Caity a few days , (he did get a immigration meeting monday 8 am), he picked up car sunday.....he finally got out of town manday afternoon, stopped in El Valle overnight , like I have always dine...nice place...he arrived about 5 pm yesterday to 'almost' his place...2 km from the house the car broke down , he got a taxi cab to tow him w a rope (for $25) to the house...a tube to the transmission had been rubbing on something and got a hole in it...will fix today.
He was happy to be there , in his new surroundings , now country....I checked the weather..we will have high today of 98F here with heat advisory abv 100....low of 78...at his place , high of 78F , low of 67.....HMMMM....
