I have some seats that have seen some better days in my 69 vert. The driver is much worse than the passenger. I have priced seats and they are EXPENSIVE. I think the frame may need to be replaced, but definitely the springs. Foam you may ask... was that an option for my year?!?!?! You mean I am not supposed to feel the springs gouge me?!?!?
Since I am the only one who rides in the car, is it geometrically possible to switch the passenger and driver seats? It is just a thought, so keep the heckling to a minimum!!!
The seat swap may physically fit, but the front-rear slider lever would bind into the carpet on the hump side.
It probably wouldn't cost too much to just have one (or both) reupholstered with new foam. Unless you are seeing broken springs, its likely that the only issues are the breakdown of the old foam. I had all three seats redone for under $400.
(you don't say how much "EXPENSIVE" is...)

But like Robert said, the fold down latch would be on the inside. Everything may well work, just be bass ackwards...
