Finally thinking of springing for a set of Redlines....had a look at the Coker site, Firestones and BFGs...what other options are there and if any of you have pics and specs / where purchased I'd appreciate it....
Still like my Cooper Cobras but they are getting a little old despite lots of tread and no redlines....
Carmutt just picked his Diamondbacks up a couple of weeks ago. He will probably chime in with the where-how much. I don't remember.
Whatever you do, don't buy Cokers. On my second set now, have hated both. Never again.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Everyone seems to recommend diamond back. So, that is who I went with. I purchased the Diamond Back III based on the BF Goodrich Radial TA. 229 a piece for the 215/70R14 which they recommended as the closest to a stock F70 x 14. Shipping was all not that bad to me too.

What don't you like about them? I will need a set eventually..

Cokers are their own product. Diamonbacks take other brand tires, shave the redline groove in them, and attach the red paint. (in a nutshell description)
Cokers are hard as a rock. They are very brittle when mounting. They are almost impossible to balance, give a harsh ride, I could go on and on.
I thought my first set were just old, but then I picked up a new set from a member here, and they weren't much better.
I have (gasp) original firestone bias on my red 'vert, and they ride 100 times better than the brand new Cokers. The only reason I have stayed away from Diamondbacks myself is they 'look' a lot different than stock, original bias ply tires. Pretty sure thats the direction I will go from now on though.

Firestone 500's lol
Taking a chance if drive with old tires. High risk for blowout. Those are trailer queen tires.
Coker uses old tire molds to make their tires that are outdated. For example: Their tire may be based on a BF Goodrich Radial TA but it is an old out dated mold that they purchased.
Diamond back uses new molds and pays a per tire fee to do so.
This is based on what I heard nothing more. My uncle buys a lot of tires from Coker and he is very happy with them for his big white walls that he buys.
But boy, do they ever look nice! And I keep her in a nice dark place to keep those evil sun rays off.

I bought a set of "redlines" from the guy we get our truck tires from. "They are fine. Just been sitting here for a couple years" he says. So for $500 they were on my rims. Could never get the red line really bright and red. Now you can't even tell they are redlines. They only have like 500 miles on them so I guess I have to live with black walls for a while.
I have the DiamondBack BFG Redlines, after 3 years (about 7K miles) they still look great. The redline is actually a red rubber that is vulcanized to the tire carcass. Make sure you don't use any silicone based tire treatments (ArmorAll, etc.) as that will dull out the red. DiamondBack recommends scrubbing the bejeezus out of them with Simple Green to clean them, and then applying Mop and Glo to seal them. Does not give them the 'wet' look but looks good.

Where have you been? Things must be busy. Be thankful your not back here- it's -8 this morning w/o the wind chill!
That's some good info if you live on gravel- silicone is the worst enemy for attracting dust.

Good information. I've been using various tire dressings on my redline Cokers and they don't seem quite as vivid in look now. I'll try your advice.
Man you are good. You got me wondering and I put my 14x6 trim rings on and notice that my rims must be 14x7. I thought i had seen 14x6 on them when I was looking at them with the tires off.
I just found a set of correct JC wheels so I had to buy them. I hope someone needs some 14x7 so I can recoup some of the money I had to shell out on JC wheels.
I was wanting the bias ply Firestone F70 - 14 redlines for some time but wasn't looking forward to paying for them + shipping + brokerage. Then, a couple years ago, a friend of mine went down to Georgia to buy and bring back a 67 GTX. When he got back, he was describing it to me and said the first thing he was going to get rid of were the new tires the previous owner installed just before selling him the car. You know the rest. They were exactly what I wanted. Got all 4 for $400.00.

I'm running the Coker redlines on my car. No complaints really other that the "pizza cutter" lines that you get with these tires. I have had them for 8 or 9 years still working fine although I can't say I put much milaege on the car these days... sigh. I use a product called AutoGlym from England to clean grim from the redlines and they come up looking new every time. Dave when I got mine there was a Coker dealer on the mainland and made the purchase very easy.
